When the energy tech giant spun off from Siemens AG to focus exclusively on the energy sector, it saw an opportunity to rethink its approach to enterprise performance management (EPM). By transforming outdated systems into a unified, future-ready platform, the company set the stage for smarter financial consolidation, planning, and reporting—fully aligned with its strategic goals SAP Cloud ERP Private transformation.
To execute this vision, the company enlisted Accenture’s expertise in hybrid-agile methodologies and industry-leading large-scale digital transformation knowledge to evaluate, design and implement EPM+. The advanced system integrates SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP Cloud ERP Private, group reporting into a centralized Finance Data Hub, streamlining financial information and processes while providing near real-time insights for more informed decision-making and reduced manual effort. EPM+ is expected to cut operational costs by nearly 50% - allowing Siemens Energy to smoothly adapt to a changing market.

While Siemens Energy related to the transformative potential of advanced technologies, it became clear that true impact would only be realised by reimagining the strategy behind their implementation. We leveraged the best of SAP – SAP Cloud ERP Private, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP Cloud ERP Private, group reporting – to harmonize its legacy ERP financial data into a streamlined data warehouse powered by cloud analytics. A Snowflake-powered data lake empowered users to integrate SAP and other enterprise data for flexible analytics. With a large enterprise such as Siemens Energy, the new financial consolidation system needed to simplify external reporting and disclosure management of several systems. Ultimately, it reduced over 800 reports to about 100, cutting costs and streamlining its system landscape – all while avoiding major disruption to daily operations, made possible by a phased cloud migration approach.
At the heart of EPM+ is a centralized Finance Data Hub, where actual and plan financial data converge from the new solutions (SAP Cloud ERP Private, group reporting and SAP Analytics Cloud) and operational details from the legacy world are enhanced. This empowers leaders with the clarity to steer the business confidently through market volatility. Self-service dashboards and flexible reporting tools put power directly in the hands of 3,200 reporting users and 1,900 planners, transforming finance from a back-office function into a strategic enabler of growth.
To manage Siemens Energy's global demands, we applied complex functionalities like comparability calculations and currency conversion frameworks which enables consistent, accurate financial reporting across diverse regions and currencies, streamline data consolidation, and support agile, data-driven decision-making. Additionally, custom reporting and planning solutions tailored to the company's unique operational landscape and requirements, empowers its teams worldwide while maintaining transparency, speed, and alignment.
EPM+ is more than a solution; it’s a foundation for Siemens Energy’s next era. With seamless connectivity to cloud analytics, a well-structured financial SAP-based data warehouse and a Snowflake-powered data lake, the platform is already enabling advanced use cases like predictive forecasting and financial/non-financial self-service analytics. AI-driven insight will play a powerful role in utilizing the company’s advanced knowledge base to resolve queries faster through an automated AI-based ticketing system. The SAP-Snowflake partnership will serve as a catalyst for data optimization needed to activate more AI applications and accelerate business outcomes.
