About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Oracle and SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize our database environments. 

Experience in both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server is preferable but not essential. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability of enterprise database systems while supporting business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Database Administration
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Perform database provisioning, patching, and version upgrades
  • Manage database storage, capacity planning, and growth forecasting

Performance & Availability

  • Monitor database performance and proactively identify bottlenecks
  • Tune SQL queries, indexes, and database configurations
  • Ensure high availability using clustering, replication, Always On, RAC, Data Guard, etc.
  • Implement and test disaster recovery and failover strategies

Backup, Recovery & Security

  • Design and maintain backup and recovery strategies (RMAN, native SQL Server tools)
  • Perform database restores and recovery testing
  • Implement database security, encryption, and access controls
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards

Support & Operations

  • Provide 2nd/3rd line support for database-related incidents and problems
  • Work closely with application teams, developers, and infrastructure teams
  • Document database procedures, standards, and configurations

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database (12c/19c or later)

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022)

  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and T-SQL

  • Experience with backup/recovery tools (RMAN, SQL Server Maintenance Plans)

  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting expertise

  • Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems

Experience

  • Typically around 5+ years’ experience as a Database Administrator

  • Experience supporting production, mission-critical environments

  • Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions

Desirable / Nice to Have

  • Exadata on premise experience

  • Oracle RAC, Data Guard experience

  • SQL Server Always On Availability Groups

  • Automation and monitoring tools (OEM)

  • Relevant certifications (Oracle OCP, Microsoft SQL certifications)

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities

  • Team-oriented with a proactive mindset
