In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, many companies are reducing their workforces, while others can't fill jobs fast enough. People + Work Connect brings companies together to help get people back to work faster.
Created by chief human resources officers from Accenture, Lincoln Financial Group, ServiceNow and Verizon, this global initiative provides new ways to keep people employed.
Ellyn Shook is Accenture’s chief leadership & human resources officer, responsible for helping the 505,000 people of Accenture succeed both professionally and personally. Her global team of HR experts is re-imagining leadership and talent practices to create the most truly human work environment, fueling Accenture’s differentiation in the market and ability to improve the way the world works and lives.
Ellyn is a member of Accenture’s Global Management Committee. She is a strong advocate for diversity and equality, and Accenture has been widely recognized externally as an employer of choice and for its equality efforts.
Before being named chief human resources officer in 2014, Ellyn was senior managing director—Human Resources, and led Accenture’s Human Resources Centers of Expertise and the Human Resources Business Partner Organization. In this position, she was responsible for the design of Accenture’s talent architecture, as well as the company’s total rewards, talent supply chain and talent development programs.
Between 2004 and 2011, Ellyn was the global human resources lead for career and performance management, total rewards, employee engagement, and mergers and acquisitions. Earlier in her career, she was head of global compensation, responsible for designing and implementing new executive compensation and equity programs—including equity grants at the time of the company’s IPO in 2001. She also led human resources for the company’s New York office for five years.
Ellyn is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shaper Community Foundation Board, the Women’s Leadership Board of the Women and Public Policy program at Harvard’s Kennedy School, and the steering committee of Paradigm for Parity. She also serves on the HR Policy Association’s Board of Directors and is an active member of the HR50 division of World50.
Ellyn joined Accenture in 1988 and became a partner in 2003. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University.
Executive Vice President Lisa Buckingham is the chief human resources officer for Lincoln Financial Group, responsible for all human resources practices and policies for the organization. She is also responsible for overseeing the corporation’s brand and advertising, enterprise communications, consumer insights and corporate social responsibility activities; as well as the facilities, aviation and corporate strategic real estate areas. Additionally, she leads the company’s business continuity and enterprise crisis management efforts. She reports to the President and Chief Executive Officer, Dennis R. Glass and is a member of the Senior Management Committee.
Buckingham has more than 30 years of experience in all aspects of human resources management.
Buckingham earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. Her professional areas of focus include organizational development, total rewards strategies, change management and talent management. In November 2018, she was elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources (NAHR), an honor considered the most prestigious in the field of human resources. In October 2017, she was named HR Executive of the Year by HR Executive Magazine. In February 2015, she was named one of the top 10 CHROs in a list published by Forbes. Buckingham was named 2012 Pennsylvania Woman of the Year by the Pennsylvania Diversity Council.
She is on the Board of Directors of the HR Policy Association, the new American Health Policy Institute, Lincoln Life & Annuity Company of New York and the Eagles Charitable Foundation. She is the Chairman and an Executive Committee member of the Peer Round Table for CHROs and is a member of the Steering Committee of the HR Policy Institute. Buckingham also Chairs the Lincoln Financial Foundation.
Christine M. Pambianchi is Verizon’s lead HR officer, managing all compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, training and labor relations functions for the nation’s leading provider of fiber-optic and global Internet networks and services. Prior to joining Verizon in July 2019, Christy was the Executive Vice President of People & Digital at Corning Incorporated. At Corning, she served in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility including Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Division Vice President of Business Human Resources, and Vice President of Human Resources. Prior to working at Corning Incorporated, Christy worked at PepsiCo, Incorporated for ten years.
Corporate and charitable leadership
Christy serves as a director of the board of the Verizon Foundation. She also remains active at Cornell University as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the School of Industrial and Labor Relations and as a Board member for the Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies (CAHRS). Christy is also a board member for the Lumina Foundation, a national foundation dedicated increasing the percentage of Americans with post-secondary education or credentials. She is an active supporter for FIRST Robotics, where she has also coached a team for five seasons. Christy has previously served on multiple school and arts center boards in her local community.

Christy holds a Bachelor's Degree from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations and lives in New Jersey with her spouse and four children. Christy was inducted as a fellow to the National Academy of Human Resources, recognizing her career contributions to the field of HR.
Pat Wadors serves as Chief Talent Officer for ServiceNow, the digital workflow company making work, work better for people. That purpose, as well as Pat’s longtime focus on building healthy companies that scale, drives her vision to create amazing employee experiences for ServiceNow’s 10,000+ people around the world.
Prior to joining ServiceNow in September 2017, Pat was the Senior Vice President, Global Talent Organization at LinkedIn, where her focus was on recruiting and developing top talent, driving organizational transformation, supporting a highly engaged workforce, and growing LinkedIn’s global footprint.
Pat has also held human resources leadership positions at Plantronics, Yahoo!, Align Technology and Applied Materials. Pat earned her B.S. in business management with a concentration in human resources management and a minor in psychology from Ramapo College of New Jersey.
Pat currently serves on the boards of directors for Zenefits, Accolade, and El Camino Hospital.
