As a Planning Engineer at Soben, part of Accenture, you will be responsible for delivering robust planning and scheduling capabilities across the full project lifecycle.
You will act as a subject matter expert in project planning, working closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure programmes are realistic, controlled, and aligned with project objectives.
This role will support major projects across Norway’s infrastructure, energy, and data centre markets, ensuring best-in-class planning standards are applied throughout.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage project planning and scheduling activities across the full project lifecycle
- Develop, implement, and maintain detailed, logic-driven project schedules aligned to scope, cost, and quality objectives
- Apply a structured, top-down approach to programme development, ensuring alignment with project strategy, milestones, and delivery requirements
- Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
- Track and update project schedules with actual progress and forecast future performance
- Produce clear and accurate reporting, including schedule analysis narratives, critical path identification, and performance insights
- Develop and manage earned value management (EVM) systems to assess performance against plan
- Undertake schedule risk analysis to identify potential delays and establish contingency plans
- Ensure robust change management processes are implemented, maintaining clear audit trails of programme changes
- Support project controls integration, working across cost, risk, and planning functions
- Provide expert advice to project teams, helping to drive informed decision-making
- Mentor and support junior planning professionals within the team
- Ensure compliance with Soben and Accenture standards, as well as Norwegian regulatory and project requirements

About You
- Proven experience as a Planning Engineer within construction, infrastructure, energy, or related sectors
- Strong experience working on projects in Norway or the Nordic region is highly desirable
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (including resource loading and cost tracking)
- Solid understanding of planning requirements within NEC3 / NEC4 contracts or similar frameworks
- Experience working within project controls teams across client, contractor, or consultancy environments
- Strong knowledge of project planning methodologies, scheduling techniques, and earned value principles
- Ability to analyse complex project data and communicate insights clearly to stakeholders
- Experience in managing schedules within matrix project teams
- Confident in challenging assumptions and driving accountability through project progress reviews
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Degree in construction management, engineering, project management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- On-site construction experience is beneficial but not essential
- Fluency in English; Norwegian language skills are advantageous
