Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Java Architect with 13–15 years of experience in architecting, modernizing, and governing large-scale enterprise applications and platforms, with proven expertise in delivering enterprise e-commerce solutions on platforms such as commercetools, SAP Commerce, Adobe Commerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud etc.
The ideal candidate should possess strong technical leadership skills, deep expertise in modern Java ecosystems, distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, composable/headless commerce architecture, and enterprise architecture practices. The role requires driving architecture strategy, technology modernization, governance, and engineering excellence across multiple teams and delivery programs.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Define and drive domain-level and enterprise architecture strategy for Java-based platforms and distributed systems
- Lead architecture governance, design reviews, and technical decision-making across multiple teams and programs
- Establish architecture standards, design principles, and reusable engineering patterns
- Conduct technical risk assessments, production issue reviews, root cause analysis, and define long-term remediation strategies.
- Design scalable, resilient, secure, and high-performance cloud-native applications and microservices
- Drive adoption of modern architectural patterns including Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), and API-first design
- Define and enforce best practices for performance, scalability, reliability, observability, and security
- Support DevSecOps adoption, CI/CD maturity, cloud governance, and operational excellence initiatives
- Lead cloud transformation, platform engineering, and legacy application modernization initiatives
- Guide teams through architecture, design, development, and deployment of complex programs
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies aligned with business and technology strategy
- Champion adoption of AI-assisted development practices to improve engineering velocity and quality
- Partner with business stakeholders, product teams, and delivery leadership to align technology solutions with business objectives
- Mentor architects, technical leads, and senior engineers
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and engineering excellence
Professional and Technical Skills:
- Expert-level proficiency in Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and microservices architecture
- Strong knowledge of JVM performance tuning, concurrency, threading, and memory management
- Extensive experience designing and governing enterprise-scale distributed systems and cloud-native applications
- Deep understanding of DDD, EDA, API-first design, CQRS, and enterprise integration patterns
- Solid understanding of JPA/Hibernate, SQL, and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Hands-on experience with caching technologies (Redis, Hazelcast) and messaging platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS)
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native architecture patterns
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of observability tools: ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry
- Knowledge of security practices: OAuth2/OIDC, TLS/mTLS, secrets management, secure coding, and DevSecOps principles
- Proficiency with Git and modern code management/version control workflows
- Experience leading architecture reviews, governance processes, and technology standardization
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AI-powered code review)
Good To Have:
- Experience with Agile delivery framework and multi-team program governance
- Exposure to platform engineering concepts (Internal Developer Platforms, golden paths)
- Familiarity with polyglot persistence strategies and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB)
- Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)
- Contributions to open-source projects or architecture communities
- Experience designing and delivering enterprise e-commerce solutions using platforms such as commercetools, SAP Commerce, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of composable/headless commerce architecture, including API-first design, microservices, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native patterns
