Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated SAP S/4HANA IS-U Consultant with expertise in Market Process Management (MPM), Intercompany Data Exchange (IDEX), or Intercompany Data Exchange for Energy (IDE) to join our SAP Utilities practice. The ideal candidate will support utilities clients in deregulated markets on greenfield or transformation programs to implement or enhance market communication capabilities in SAP S/4HANA Utilities (IS-U).



Roles & Responsibilities:
 

  • Lead or support the design, configuration, and deployment of SAP S/4HANA IS-U MPM, IDEX, or IDE modules.
  • Process document and Process ID configurations, IDOC and ALE configurations
  • Enable automated market message processing, manage message queues, and resolve integration issues across inbound and outbound flows.
  • Translate regulatory and utility-specific market process requirements into functional specifications and technical designs.
  • Participate in S/4HANA migration projects, including readiness assessments and transition from ECC-based IDEX/IDE solutions.
  • Coordinate with interface teams (SAP PI/PO, SAP CPI) to ensure seamless B2B integrations with external market participants (e.g., suppliers, grid operators).
  • Ensure compliance with regional energy regulations (e.g., US Retail Choice, German GPKE/MPES, UK DCC).
  • Collaborate with other IS-U teams (Billing, Device Management, FICA) to ensure end-to-end market process execution.
  • Support all phases of the delivery lifecycle, including requirements gathering, functional design, unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), cutover, and hypercare.



Professional & Technical Skills:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in SAP IS-U, with at least 2 years on SAP S/4HANA.
  • Deep expertise in one or more of the following:
    • MPM (Market Process Management)
    • IDEX (Intercompany Data Exchange)
    • IDE (Intercompany Data Exchange for Energy)
  • Strong understanding of market roles (e.g., supplier, distribution system operator, transmission operator) and market message flows and EDI (814, 867, 810).
  • Familiarity with SAP Messaging Workbench, EMMA framework, and IDOC/XML message formats.
  • Experience with SAP PI/PO, CPI, or other middleware platforms for utility market integration.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.

 

   Additional Information:

  • Experience with SAP Cloud for Utilities (C4U) or S/4 Utilities roadmap.
  • Knowledge of SAP IS-U Billing, FICA, Device Management, or Customer Service modules.
  • SAP Certification in IS-U or S/4HANA Utilities.
  • Consulting experience at a utility’s implementation partner or major transformation project.
