The Data Architect combines expertise in data modelling, functional analysis, and data engineering to design and maintain enterprise data structures. This role translates business needs into conceptual, logical, and physical data models, working with Data Engineers, Functional SMEs, and Product Owners in an Agile Scrum team. Proficiency in ETL/ELT, Python, PySpark, Agile practices, Jira, and Confluence is required for effective collaboration and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Data Modelling: Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical models using ER, dimensional, and Data Vault frameworks.
- Functional Analysis: Translate business requirements into data mapping and transformation rules.
- ETL/ELT Collaboration: Work with engineers to implement models and validate logic in Python, PySpark, and SQL.
- Data Governance: Maintain metadata, dictionaries, and ensure compliance with standards.
- Stakeholder Communication: Bridge business and technical teams, using Jira and Confluence for Agile delivery.
- Continuous Improvement: Apply best practices and stay updated on modelling and cloud technologies.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Technical Skills
- Foundations in data modelling (ER, dimensional, normalization).
- Good understanding of functional requirements gathering and mapping.
- Knowledge of:
- Python (data transformation logic)
- PySpark (distributed compute basics)
- SQL (querying, transformation logic)
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and data pipeline orchestration.
- Exposure to modelling tools (PowerDesigner, ERWin, Lucidchart, dbt).
- Basic knowledge of databases (SQL & NoSQL) and cloud data platforms (Azure preferred).
- Experience with Agile tools: Jira, Confluence
Functional Skills
- Ability to understand business processes, data flows, and KPIs.
- Experience documenting functional rules, data mappings, and use cases.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams in an Agile Scrum environment.

Experience/Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related fields.
- 1–3+ years of experience in data engineering, BI, functional analysis, or data management.
- Exposure to ETL/ELT and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP).
- Experience with Python or PySpark is an advantage.
