Project Role Description : Own the design and evolution of packaged or SaaS solutions, overseeing configuration, integrations, and releases. Set platform standards to ensure stability, performance, and alignment with business and vendor constraints.

IBM DB2 ZoS Database Administrator

As a Database Administrator, the role involves ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of enterprise database environments. A typical day includes managing database configurations, monitoring system health, and optimizing performance to support seamless application operations. The role requires overseeing database maintenance activities such as backups, recovery, patching, and version upgrades.
The individual is responsible for implementing and maintaining database standards, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational policies. Collaboration with application teams, infrastructure teams, and stakeholders is essential to align database solutions with business needs and system requirements. The role also demands a proactive approach to identifying performance bottlenecks, resolving issues, and continuously improving the database ecosystem to meet evolving demands.

Responsibilities
Monitor, analyze, and ensure the performance, health, and availability of DB2 systems and associated applications.
Perform performance tuning, including dynamic SQL tuning and access path analysis.
Manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning, ensuring business continuity.
Handle DB2 and application problem determination and resolution in production environments.
Design and maintain logical and physical database structures.
Execute regular database maintenance activities such as REORG and RUNSTATS.
Work with DB2 utilities and monitoring tools (e.g., DB2 Administration tools, Omegamon).
Support and manage IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS (IDAA).
Manage and administer Db2 Data Sharing environments in z/OS Sysplex environments
Handle RACF security administration for DB2 environments.
Manage and monitor job scheduling using ITWS (IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler).
Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX, CLIST, and JCL.
Design and develop reports/tools to improve operational efficiency.
Ensure high availability of systems supporting large-scale online transaction and batch workloads in 24x7 production environments.
Participate in release management, database upgrades, and environment stability initiatives.


Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in IBM DB2 ZoS Database Administration.
- Strong knowledge of database configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in managing database integrations within complex software environments.
- Ability to design and implement database release and upgrade strategies.
- Familiarity with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning for database systems.
- Skilled in monitoring database health and ensuring data integrity and security.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in IBM DB2 ZoS Database Administration.
- This position is based at our Bengaluru office.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
