Summary:
The responsibilities of a Product Lead IT (PLIT) can vary
from one product to another depending on the nature and
setup of the product. However, there are many common factors.
Each PLIT owns all the responsibilities associated with de
veloping their product. Still, they need to collaborate with
their counterparts on BU/FU side as well as the product
team and delegate the workload according to the team
needs. Together with their counterparts on BU/FU side, PLIT en
sures that quality products are delivered on time and, most
importantly, that the product creates value for our business.
The PLIT role is empowered to make decisions about their
product. Therefore, together with the Product Lead BU (if
available), the PLIT is clarifying the product backlog items
and deciding which items to do. They, PLIT and PLBU, must
make all the decisions about the product by knowing the
business needs and expectations. In addition to the significant delivery responsibilities, the PLIT is also expected to establish a strong network and relationships, not only internally within the team, but also with
the broader customer, stakeholder, and management groups
relevant to their product. The PLIT must have a clear understanding of the competition and future trends of the domain or product and the solutions being developed.
