Custom Software Engineer
Project Role Description : Develop custom software solutions to design, code, and enhance components across systems or applications. Use modern frameworks and agile practices to deliver scalable, high-performing solutions tailored to specific business needs.
Must have skills : SAP PP Production Planning & Control Discrete Industries
Good to have skills : NA
Minimum 5 year(s) of experience is required
Educational Qualification : 15 years full time education
Summary
AI Powered Tech Talent You will design, configure, and enhance SAP Production Planning (PP) processes for discrete manufacturing environments while using AI assisted development tools and copilots to accelerate requirement analysis, configuration, testing, documentation, and issue resolution. The role focuses on delivering efficient production planning, shop floor execution, and material staging processes while integrating pre built AI services where beneficial. No deep AI model engineering, vector DB work, RAG, or agentic system development is required.
Key Responsibilities
Functional & Technical Delivery
Configure and support SAP PP processes including:
o Material Requirement Planning (MRP)
o Production Orders & Execution
o Routings, Work Centers & BOM Management
o Capacity Planning & Scheduling
o Backflushing & Costing Integration
o Goods Movements & Shop floor Reporting
Use AI copilots to accelerate:
o Functional specification creation
o Routing/BOM validation
o Test case generation for MRP, order creation, confirmations
o Documentation automation (FS/TS/SOPs)
Support full lifecycle delivery: requirements, design, configuration, SIT/UAT, deployment, hypercare support.
Integrate PP with MM, QM, SD, FI/CO, and shop floor systems (MES), leveraging standard APIs and middleware.
AI Assisted Productivity
Use AI copilots for:
o Automated summarization of requirements and change impacts
o Analysis of MRP exceptions and planning alerts
o Validation of order execution and production variances
o Faster defect isolation in BOM/routing/work center configurations
Integrate pre built AI services into production workflows, such as:
o Predictive insights (e.g., potential material shortages or order delays)
o Intelligent classification of production issues
o Automated summarization of production batch deviations
o Smart suggestions based on historical production performance
Use LLM assisted troubleshooting to reduce time spent analyzing MRP exception messages, order failures, and material shortages.
Governance, Quality & Collaboration
Ensure compliance with production governance, change controls, data accuracy standards, and audit policies.
Participate in workshops, solution reviews, and process optimization discussions enhanced by AI generated insights.
Collaborate with production, quality, warehouse, procurement, cost controlling, and integration teams to deliver end to end planning excellence.
Create reusable templates, checklists, test packs, and AI enabled best practices for SAP PP delivery.
Required Skills & Experience
SAP PP Expertise
Strong understanding of discrete manufacturing processes including BOM/routing management, production order cycles, capacity planning, scheduling, and MRP.
Experience with integration across MM (material availability), QM (inspection lots), SD (demand), and FI/CO (costing).
Familiarity with order confirmations, settlements, and shop floor data capture processes.
AI Ready Skills
Ability to use AI copilots, automated documentation tools, and AI assisted test accelerators.
Comfortable embedding pre built AI capabilities into production planning or execution (not custom model building).
Awareness of responsible AI usage and limitations in manufacturing and planning environments.
General Professional Skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills related to production variability, MRP outcomes, and resource planning.
Ability to translate manufacturing requirements into scalable SAP PP configurations.
Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and operational teams.
Continuous learning mindset with comfort adopting AI assisted workflows.
Good to Have
SAP PP Certification (S/4HANA Manufacturing).
Experience with MES systems, shop floor integrations, or IoT enabled production data.
Exposure to EWM/WM, PM, or APO/IBP environments.
Familiarity with automated testing tools (Tricentis, CBTA).
Outcome Expectations
Deliver faster, more reliable SAP PP solutions using AI enabled productivity tools.
Improve planning accuracy, resource utilization, and production stability.
Act as a bridge between manufacturing teams, SAP engineering teams, and AI native experts when deeper AI capabilities are required.
Additional Information
A 15 years full time education is required.
