Infrastructure & Capital Projects – Construction Design Manager - K-12 - Asset Management, ANS
THE WORK:
- You'll oversee the design activities for the School Upgrade Program and critical repair projects, ensuring the design process adheres to district standards, budget, legal, and environmental requirements.
- You'll function as the lead design professional, ensuring the implementation of quality assurance policies, procedures, and compliance with applicable regulations, including coordination with the Division of State Architects (DSA).
- You'll manage the development, coordination, and execution of the District's design processes, including interaction with architects, consultants, and internal district personnel to meet project objectives and timelines.
- You'll oversee project design budgets and schedules to ensure efficient use of resources, making necessary adjustments to ensure projects are completed on time and within financial constraints.
- You'll establish and follow processes for selecting architectural firms based on qualifications and ability to meet project goals, ensuring clear direction regarding goals, site conditions, budget, and schedule.
- You'll ensure that building designs comply with LAUSD’s design standards and educational requirements, addressing the needs of both the educational environment and building codes.
- You'll implement and maintain an effective design review process that ensures designs meet project objectives, maximize budget value, and fulfill the functional needs of the District and the local community.
- You'll ensure that all project documentation is properly completed, complies with legal requirements, and maintains a clear record of decisions and changes made throughout the project lifecycle.
- You'll participate in community outreach initiatives to foster understanding and support for District building projects, ensuring alignment with community needs and concerns.
- You'll collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Environmental Health and Safety, Maintenance and Operations) to ensure project alignment, and facilitate professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in design and construction management
- Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering
- Minimum 10 (ten) years full time paid professional experience managing the facilities design, or the planning and coordination of capital projects that includes the overall design, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling activities
- Minimum of 5 (five) years of the 10 years of experience must be with the design, planning and construction of educational facilities or similar public agencies
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:
- A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California State Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
- A valid Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI)
