An Azure Databricks Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining data solutions within the Azure ecosystem. This role requires close collaboration with various teams to gather data requirements, build scalable data pipelines, and ensure the overall solution is reliable, available, and optimized for high performance.

Outlined below are the potential roles and responsibilities of an Azure Databricks Engineer:

Data Integration and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load):

  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using Azure Databricks and other Azure services. These processes are designed to extract data from multiple sources, transform it into meaningful formats, and load it into data lakes or data warehouses.
  • A key aspect of this responsibility is ensuring that data is accurately cleaned, transformed, and loaded to enable consistent and reliable analytics and reporting.

Data Management and Storage:

  • Implement data storage solutions leveraging Azure Databricks and Azure Data Lake Storage
  • Your role involves designing data storage systems that scale, perform well, and meet the organization’s requirements.

Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

  • Implement monitoring and alerting systems to proactively detect and resolve issues within data pipelines.
  • Continuously oversee data storage and processing activities, ensuring optimal performance and addressing any operational challenges.
  • Perform performance tuning and optimization of Azure Databricks and other data processing tools.
  • Enhance data pipeline efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness by applying best practices and aligning with industry standards.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Azure Databricks Engineers actively engage with data scientists, business analysts, and other key stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Strong communication skills are essential for translating business requirements into effective technical implementations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong track record of designing and implementing data solutions using Azure Databricks.
  • Proficient in SQL, T-SQL, Python, or other relevant programming languages for data transformation and processing.
  • Solid understanding of data integration strategies, ETL techniques, and data warehousing principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with expertise in diagnosing complex data issues and optimizing pipeline performance and reliability.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and engage with various stakeholders.
  • Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Familiarity with tools such as Azure Databricks for big data processing, Power BI for data visualization, and Azure Stream Analytics for real-time data analysis.
  • Familiarity with data security best practices and data governance frameworks
  • Flexible to report onsite at any of Manila office locations: Alabang, BGC, Cubao and Mandaluyong City
