Summary:
As an Application Support Engineer, a typical day involves acting as a software detective by investigating and resolving issues that arise within various components of essential business systems. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying problems, analyzing system behavior, and ensuring the smooth operation of critical applications. The position demands continuous monitoring, collaboration with different teams, and delivering timely solutions to maintain system reliability and performance in a dynamic environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Expected to be an SME, collaborate and manage the team to perform.
-Provide L2 support on Linux (RHEL) servers hosted on On-Prem, VMware & Public Cloud infrastructure.
-Installation, configuration, Upgrade and administration of RedHat Linux servers.
-Cluster configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
-Performance tuning and storage optimization.
-RHEL/RedHat Satellite server configuration and administration.
-Licensing knowledge and good understanding of patch and package management.
-Incident and Change management, Health and performance monitoring – check server health, performance, and capacity alerts, take preventive and remedial action.
-Execution and documentation of infrastructure changes and preparing work instructions.
-Reporting and participating in governance and audit activities.
-Administer and manage VMware vCenter environment, including virtual machines.
-Perform VM provisioning, cloning, migration (vMotion), and snapshot management.
-Monitor virtual infrastructure performance and troubleshoot VM/host-related issues.
-Manage and support Data Center operations including rack/stack, cabling, and server provisioning.
-Perform hardware installation, decommissioning, and lifecycle management of physical servers.
-Troubleshoot hardware issues such as CPU, memory, disk, RAID controllers, power supply, and network interfaces.
-Coordinate with vendors for hardware replacement and maintenance activities.
-Monitor and maintain environmental conditions (power, cooling, and physical security).
-Perform firmware upgrades, BIOS configuration, and hardware health checks using tools like iDRAC, iLO, or equivalent.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Red Hat OS Administration.
- Strong knowledge of Linux system architecture, including file systems, process management, and networking.
-Experience in operating system level troubleshooting, resolving system boot issues, Kernel bugs and server log analysis.
-Experience in regular operating system Patching and vulnerability remediations.
-Experience in Linux System hardening and Non-Compliance remediation.
Clustering knowledge on Linux or HA configuration.
-Hands on Experience in Samba, CIFS, LDAP, PAM, SSSD, user authentication using username/password pair, Kerberos, certificates or a combination of methods.
-sshd, Openssl, Squid proxy, NGINIX, Antivirus, Syslog, VSFTP, NTP, Chronyd, Bash scripting
-Hands on experience in filesystem configuration with RAID and LVM.
-Hands on experience on Cloud Infrastructure.
-Knowledge on Ticketing tools preferably Service Now.
-Hands-on experience with VMware vCenter
-Experience with VM lifecycle management, templates, snapshots, and datastore management.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in Red Hat OS Administration.
- This position is based at our Bengaluru office.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
