Summary:
As an Application Support Engineer – Permit to Work (PTW) / ISSOW Systems, a typical day involves supporting and maintaining business-critical Permit to Work and Integrated Safe System of Work (ISSOW) applications used within industrial operations. The role requires troubleshooting application issues, managing incidents and service requests, collaborating with business and IT stakeholders, and ensuring system availability in a production support environment. The candidate will work across operations, maintenance, and safety teams to support compliance-driven workflows while contributing to continuous service improvement and operational excellence.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Expected to perform independently and become an SME.
Required active participation/contribution in team discussions.
Contribute in providing solutions to work-related problems.
Support and maintain Permit to Work (PTW) and ISSOW applications in a production environment.
Manage incidents, service requests, problems, and change activities in accordance with ITSM processes.
Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for application and system issues.
Collaborate with business users, operations teams, and technical teams to resolve application-related concerns.
Monitor application performance and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
Support system integrations and coordinate with integration teams to resolve interface-related issues.
Analyze recurring issues and recommend improvements to enhance application stability and reliability.
Participate in application upgrades, patch deployments, testing, and release activities.
Maintain knowledge articles, support documentation, and operational procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing.
Ensure compliance with safety, operational, and regulatory requirements while supporting PTW and ISSOW workflows.
Professional & Technical Skills:
Must To Have Skills:
Proficiency in Permit to Work (PTW) / ISSOW Systems Support.
Strong understanding of Permit to Work processes, safety workflows, risk assessments, and compliance requirements.
Knowledge of operations and maintenance business processes within industrial environments.
Basic understanding of IIS (Internet Information Services) administration and web hosting concepts.
Experience with SQL Server, including query execution, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
Understanding of Active Directory and LDAP authentication mechanisms.
Experience supporting application integrations using APIs and middleware technologies.
Hands-on experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and ServiceNow modules including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
Strong understanding of SLA management, ticket lifecycle management, and support operations.
Experience performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementing preventive actions.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and business users.
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams in a fast-paced production support environment.
Additional Information:
The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in PTW/ISSOW Application Support or Application Production Support.
Experience in APM (Application Production Management) / Production Support environments is preferred.
Prior exposure to Engica, Permit+, or ISSOW systems is highly preferred.
Oil & Gas, Energy, Utilities, or Process Industry domain experience is highly preferred.
This position is based at multiple locations.
A 15 years full-time education is required.
