Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and enhance robust Java backend applications and services using the Spring Framework.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and SOAP web services for seamless system-to-system integration.
- Drive the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and maintainable software components that meet evolving business requirements.
- Play a key role in application modernization and migration initiatives, particularly upgrades and migrations to Java 21.
- Apply Payments domain knowledge to translate business and functional requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing technical guidance and helping resolve complex engineering challenges.
- Analyze complex technical issues and recommend innovative solutions to improve application performance, stability, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, architects, product teams, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and successful delivery.
- Take ownership of technical decisions within the team and contribute to key decisions spanning multiple teams.
- Participate in Agile development practices, including requirement refinement, solution design, development, testing, and release activities.
- Promote engineering excellence through code quality, reusable design, knowledge sharing, and adoption of development best practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to refining development processes to enhance quality, efficiency, and delivery effectiveness.
- Mentor and support team members by sharing technical expertise, Payment's knowledge, and development best practices.
Note: role requires onsite client work 3 days per week
Basic Qualifications:
- Expert proficiency with 7+ years of experience in Java / Java Standard Edition
- Expert proficiency with 5+ years of experience in Spring Framework
- Strong hands-on experience in Java backend development
- Strong experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs
- Strong experience with SOAP/Web Services
- Strong understanding of software design, integration patterns, and enterprise application development
- Experience working on Java modernization/migration projects, preferably Java 21
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities
- Ability to provide technical leadership and collaborate effectively across multiple engineering teams
- Bachelors degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Good understanding of Payments fundamentals and payment processing
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments
