"We live Accenture’s core value ‘best people’ every day."
How I put change in motion
I have been at Accenture since 2016 where I have worked with multiple clients, but I have always focused on SAP implementations more or less. I am currently doing a mix of a client role and an internal role.
In my internal role as Nordic Market SAP Development Lead, I am interacting with SAP on a Nordic level with the goal of having the best possible collaboration between Accenture and SAP to ensure that clients get the most value from our SAP implementations. In my daily work, interacting with each other is very important in order to make sure that we have a common target and goal.
In my client role, I am supporting a grocery retailer in the Nordics with their SAP (S/4HANA) implementation. The days are mainly focused on supporting them with investigating production incidents and suggesting ways of improving. The improvements can be both related to the IT landscape but also to how their business is working. As always, It is a balance of whether IT should fit the business needs or if the business needs should adopt to the IT solution. I would say that my daily work is challenging, both functionally and analytically.
The most exciting project that I have worked on was actually my very first project. The retail client was big, we were a big team, our colleagues were from all over the world, we got the chance to travel, and I was in the team for several years which allowed me to understand and learn to get to know the solution. Both the client and Accenture allowed me to grow and take on responsibilities outside of my comfort zone which inspired and encouraged me. It showed me what we could do together and also how strong our company is. Also, the client and the colleagues were outstanding, many of them are and will be friends for life.
Before the pandemic, I was commuting weekly to the client two to three days a week which was both fun and exciting. I felt that there was always something going on, but I still had time to be at home. Since the pandemic started, I have been working from home with a team situated across the Nordic.
In the morning, I connect with my client team where the goal is to identify what we can act on and how urgent it is. After that, I dig into the system to find the root of the issues and address it to the correct persons in the client’s organization. If there are repeated issues, I am also looking into how business processes could be further enhanced or if the IT solution needs to be developed further. The afternoon is spent in multiple virtual calls, building relations with SAP and looking into collaborations to ensure that Accenture and SAP can utilitize each other.
The number one thing about working at Accenture is the people. Accenture would not be what it is without the colleagues. We live our core value “best people” every day. The second best thing is the ability to learn and grow as I am a learner, and I like to challenge myself on a daily basis. Finally, the size of Accenture is something that I appreciate. Even though we are big, the leaders see you; you are an individual who contribute, and you are recognized for that. And when you are facing challenges that you cannot solve on your own, a colleague is never far away, regardless if that person is located in China, US, Australia, or India. He or she will take the time to support and help you, ensuring that you get the help you need.
When I need to unplug, I spend time in the forest or at sea sailing. Spending my spare time in nature is important to me.
