Seabury Consulting has dedicated data analytics and business intelligence teams in London, Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur who are responsible for providing leading data products to our clients.
About the function                                                                       
We are looking for exceptional and highly motivated analysts to join our Kuala Lumpur team to grow our capabilities and expand our product portfolio. The KL team is responsible for managing Seabury’s market intelligence products, performing R&D, and providing analytics and data expertise to Seabury’s Consulting offices.
Part of our product portfolio is the Seabury Cargo Model. Launched in 2015, it helps cargo airlines to optimize their cargo performance. To date, the tool is used by six leading airlines on a long-term subscription basis. The tool helps airlines in their strategic decision-making on what cargo to sell, which partnerships to engage in, and design the air cargo networks of the future. The tool is in continuous development, and users frequently reach out for guidance with their scenario-building.
You will be part of the support team for this tool, and provide further technical developments and engage in client communication to resolve issues and identify improvements. Experience in the industry is not essential however a strong desire to build knowledge of aviation and transportation industries is a must. The learning curve will be steep and rewarding, and will enable you to build a foundation of skills and experience which will prepare you for a range of more senior roles.
  • Understand the workings of the Seabury Cargo Model, its purpose and why our clients use it
  • Propel the tool(s) forward through exciting and intensive development sprints
  • Provide day-to-day client troubleshooting, bug fixes and maintenance activities
  • There is potential for client-facing workshops and training, and as such international travel may be required
  • Keep up to date with current industry trends reported in various industry publications to ensure good domain expertise of the data being analyzed

From this role you will gain good experience and knowledge in the following:
  • Domain expertise in the air cargo industry (and especially network optimization)
  • Client interaction and a good understanding of their questions
  • Writing SQL queries and modifying scripts on MS SQL Server databases
  • Advanced Excel and VBA usage
  • Data visualization using Tableau
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Minimum two years of experience working as an analyst or in a similar role
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Applied Science/Applied Mathematics/Economics/Business Administration/Business Information Systems or relevant degrees with a strong focus on statistics or data
  • Excellent analytical abilities, a ‘number cruncher’
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, both face-to-face as remotely, to understand their questions and provide guidance
  • SQL expertise: excellent SQL capabilities are preferred, but candidates with basic SQL skills will also be considered
  • Expertise from working with dat visualization software such as Tableau is desirable
  • Knowledge of IBM ILOG CPLEX or Python will be highly regarded
  • A strong curiosity to continually gain and improve knowledge about the transportation industries
  • Impeccable attention to detail and strong discipline in cross checking results
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Applicant must possess the right to employment in Malaysia
