"Seeing the rapid growth of RPA technologies, I see that I made the right decision."

From finance to RPA

After graduating from a prestigious university, Darta started working in a back office role in the finance sector in a back office role.

Simultaneously, the bank began automating some business processes. This pushed her down of a road of thinking about her career finance and how technology is developing. At 23 she realized that is was time for a change. She changed her career path and began spending evening studying robotic process automation. After getting an industry certification, she began working at Accenture as an RPA developer for the finance industry. A working language in her first project was French, which she knows well – what more of a sign did she need?

“The beginning wasn’t easy – I had tough days and easier ones. My colleagues helped me get past those days and supported my decision to change careers. I learned to push through obstacles. I changed my direction 2.5 years ago and joined Accenture. Seeing the rapid growth of RPA technologies, I see that I made the right decision” – says Darta.

No knowledge is ever lost

Her previous work with administrative processes and the workings of a back office helps her understand and analyze RPA business specifications quickly. In her first projects, she helped transform business specifications into an automated process and this releases people to do more important work. Darta adds, “Our insurance company client has many processes that can be automated. Some involve insurance claims processing – reviewing forms, evaluating data, registering claims, and replying to the clients etc. Some automations have also been related to internal company processes, which could be present in any organization, like comparing and updating internal employee records.”

Because technology never stops developing, the project has moved from RPA, add other solutions, like OCR, computer vision and data analytics. This has enabled the client to do more and achieve end-to-end automation.

2.5 years later she is a technical architect. In her day-to-day work she is responsible for production process maintenance and quickly fixing any bugs, continuously improving older processes, and implementing process evolutions. While she enjoyed being a developer, work in maintenance is more dynamic, as you need to be good at prioritizing tasks, and managing time. She also does process design reviews and code reviews, and supports junior teammates.
