Accenture promotes a diverse and inclusive work environment, and we strive to partner with businesses that embrace these values as well. We believe inclusive procurement practices create long-term value for our clients and our communities, while helping us remain agile, disruptive and ahead of the market.
Our Global Supplier Inclusion & Diversity program, which reaches 17 countries, allows us to drive a more inclusive and empowered marketplace. By incorporating diverse businesses into our supply chain, we gain access to innovative, responsive and cost-competitive supply solutions for our clients.
At the same time, we help Accenture’s suppliers grow their representation and influence their own markets. For instance, we connect women entrepreneurs with WEConnect International, which empowers women to succeed in global markets by providing training and certification opportunities. We co-founded and have representation on its Board, and Accenture now collaborates with WEConnect International on programs in 13 countries across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America.
We are also proud to work with organizations such as:
- Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC)
- National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC)
- National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC)
- US Business Leadership Network (USBLN)
We believe that small, medium and diverse businesses should have equal opportunity to participate in the procurement sourcing process. This approach enables Accenture to increase our scope to find best-in-class suppliers who can bring us innovative and cost-competitive solutions for our supply and value chain.
We focus not only on expanding our own pool of small and diverse suppliers but also on encouraging our large suppliers to leverage small and diverse suppliers on Accenture’s behalf, creating an inclusive work environment while providing services to Accenture.
We have been able to track our diverse procurement spend most consistently in the United States, where we achieved a rate of more than 27 percent of total procurement spend with diverse suppliers in fiscal 2017.
