One of the many ways we empower our workforce at Accenture is through our Truly Human culture. It enables our people to take care of their whole selves—body, mind, heart and soul—so they can grow professionally and personally.
This is what attracted Contract Associate Manager Jill to apply for Accenture in 2017. Before joining us, Jill was part of one of the country’s largest electric companies. However, the stresses of work made it difficult for her to get pregnant. After some soul searching, she decided to look for a fresh start elsewhere. Her requirement was simple—she wanted to work in a company that will allow her to be a stellar lawyer while having enough time for herself and her family.
After seeing an ad on Jobstreet, Jill took a leap of faith and started a new adventure at Accenture. A few months later, she found herself pregnant at 40 years old. “I would often introduce my daughter as my Accenture baby. She’s a miracle that I attribute to our company’s commitment to being Truly Human,” she shares.
“At that time, I had almost given up on having a baby. The doctors would remind me to stay away from stress, but a lawyer’s work is stressful by nature. However, I was proven wrong when I joined Accenture. Here, I get to decide the kind of life I want to build for myself. It’s just a matter of striking the right balance between work and my personal time,” she continues.
In the last five years, Jill has always felt grateful for how Accenture empowers her to be a hands-on mom, ever-present wife and reliable friend while continuing to achieve her career goals. “Accenture knows how to take care of its people. My time for my family and passions outside work is always honored. Here, my mental health is at its best.”
Jill has also diversified her portfolio by working on different projects and taking numerous trainings. “Accenture ensures I’m equipped to do my job well. There’s a wide range of trainings I can choose from. How I want to expand my knowledge is up to me. The more projects I take on, the more skills I unlock,” she shares.
Now serving as Entity Matters point of contact, Jill provides legal support to Accenture in the Philippines’ corporate secretary. She also works as the Global Legal Network group lead for the Philippines and China, leading a team of lawyers and contract specialists in supporting our Global Delivery Network operations.
Her typical workday consists of attending meetings, handling board approval requests, filing corporate records and sorting out government agency applications. Her job is extremely crucial to ensuring that Accenture continues to operate seamlessly in the Philippines.
Apart from overseeing our legal and compliance affairs, Jill also enjoys doing process automation. Using the knowledge and skills she has acquired from Accenture’s wide range of training programs, she was able to design a tool that streamlines manual processes for board approvals, cutting down manhours by 50 percent and giving users better visibility over their requests.
Jill considers herself blessed to be working alongside brilliant leaders and mentors, such as Country Legal Director Miscen Desiderio Dime, Geographic Legal Counsel Senior Manager Cathy Lee and Country Managing Director Lito Tayag, whom she credits for showing her the meaning of authentic leadership. “I look at the people running our organization and immediately know I’m in good company,” she shares.
Amid all the important work she does, Jill always makes time to talk to her career counselees. It’s her way of paying it forward and empowering others to grow their careers. “My one-hour catch-up with my career counselees is my favorite part of the week. I’m naturally interested in people and like hearing their stories. I’m honored that they trust me enough to share their career aspirations with me.”
Apart from helping her team build their careers, Jill also joined Accenture’s Returning Moms Coaching initiative, a global network that guides mothers on the requirements they need to submit after their maternity leave.
Outside of work, Jill enjoys cooking, dancing, traveling and exploring new foodie spots with her family. She also considers herself a spiritual person and always finds time for prayer.
