Job Description

  • Review and assess the manual test cases created for the application under test and provide feedback on suitability for API automation to the project team
  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for API testing
  • Verify and validate APIs for functionality, reliability, performance, and security
  • Collaborate with development and QA teams to identify test scenarios and automate API tests
  • Design and implement automated API test scripts using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or similar
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and report issues using tracking tools
  • Participate in test planning, test design, and test strategy activities
  • Stay updated on emerging API testing trends and best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and where testing fits into the process
  • Proven experience in API testing and test automation
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP protocols, and API testing methodologies
  • Familiarity with any API testing tools like Postman, SoapUI, Swagger, or similar
  • Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, or similar
  • Knowledge of test management and defect tracking tools
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Nice to Have:

  • API testing certification or other relevant certifications
  • Experience with performance testing of APIs
  • Knowledge of security testing principles for APIs
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
