Employment Tax Specialist

Job Summary:
This advisory role will report into the Employment Tax Manager for the Philippines. In addition to his/her own geographical responsibilities, the Specialist will also have the opportunity to contribute to Expatriate, Payroll & Employment Tax initiatives for the broader Growth Markets region and/or globally. The role presents ample opportunities for learning, growth and development.
The Specialist will be required to closely partner with Corporate Tax, Payroll, Global Mobility, Human Resources, Controllership and Legal teams to provide guidance and direction on the development, controls, and oversight of our employment tax compliance programs and related initiatives.
Responsibilities will include the following:
• Provide employment tax/payroll tax advisory support in the Philippines, helping to set positions, policy and maintain Company compliance;
• Advise upon the employment tax implications for all Global Mobility related and domestic employee benefits policies.
• Determine tax planning opportunities and advise on individual and employment income tax implications for complex/executive cross-border transfers and assignments;
• Support in responding to employment tax/payroll tax audits by the relevant authorities, as applicable;
• Provide employment tax/payroll tax to our Ventures & Acquisitions (V&A) team in respect of mergers or acquisitions within the Philippines;
• Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory changes and collaborate across functions to maintain ongoing compliance under new laws, regulations and/or policies. This may involve advising and/or liaising with Accenture stakeholders/leadership and other internal teams including Global Mobility, Global Tax, Controllership, Finance, Human Resources and Legal;
• Ensure internal controls are working effectively for managing risk and compliance in the expatriate and employment / payroll tax spaces;
• Supervise the annual tax filing compliance of cross-border assignees which is managed by a vendor. Support in responding to tax vendor and employee queries which are tax technical or policy in nature.
• Support in periodic reviews such as employment/payroll tax risk reviews, accruals, tool position accuracy, filings (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
• Review of payroll processes, tax filing and payments, including reconciliation of accounts.
• Perform tests, validations, and documentation for payroll change requests, projects, year-end payroll tax annualization, and ad-hoc requirements.
Qualifications
Must Have:
- University degree or equivalent higher education qualification
- Qualification in a related field e.g., Tax or Accounting
- CPA is preferred
- 3 or more years experience with an Accounting Firm (Big 4) and/or Multinational Company, advising on employment taxes/payroll taxes matters;
- Being pro-active and driven in providing excellent customer service and can multi-task; handle global stake holders
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Sound working knowledge of common applications (excel, word, powepoint, outlook)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; exposed in data gathering and detail oriented
Good to Have:
- Experience with expatriate global mobility tax an advantage
- Experience of working with a remote, multi-cultural team an advantage
