As an Embedded Java Software Developer, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Java-based service applications running on a client’s automotive software platform. You will take ownership of existing services, working hands-on with legacy code to ensure stability, quality, and long-term maintainability. This role involves analyzing and resolving defects, extending automated tests, and producing clear technical documentation aligned with customer requirements. You will collaborate closely with on-site lead developers and the requirements engineers to translate customer needs into well-designed, traceable software solutions. You will create and maintain software designs, ensuring end-to-end traceability from requirements through implementation and test coverage. The role requires a strong sense of ownership, autonomy, and quality mindset. Roles and responsibilities: - As a developer for an automotive online services, you take ownership of multiple of the existing Java applications that run as a service on the client’s software platform. - You maintain the existing code, analyze and fix upcoming bugs, create and extend tests to cover the implementation, and document the service. - You are comfortable working with legacy code, you have a good understanding of quality metrics, and you strive to bring your application to a point where you can support long-term maintenance of this application. - You are in direct contact with your on-site lead developer and your on- and off-site requirements engineers, who help you and the client document the requirements of your application. - You create software design and make sure that there is complete traceability from customer requirements to your documentation, the service implementation and its test cases. - Adhere to best practices in software development. Required Skills: -Expert proficiency in Embedded Java Software Development -Experience with Java Standard Edition, JUnit Testing Framework, Embedded Java for Automotives. -Strong understanding of software development life cycle and agile methodologies. -Proficient in debugging and troubleshooting embedded systems. -Practical Experience with Object-Oriented Programming. -Knowledge on Design Patterns. -Experience with version control systems such as Git. -Familiarity with hardware-software integration and unit testing. -High ability to work autonomously. -High technological affinity. -Analytical capability: relevant information gathering, structured analysis approach. -Communication proficiency both oral and in writing in English. Nice to Have: -Knowledge about network protocols (Ethernet, UDP/TCP, IP) including analysis of traces with Wireshark. -Understanding of code metrics (MC/DC coverage, branch coverage,etc), static code analysis. -Knowledge about Android service development Additional Information: - The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in Embedded Software Development. - This position is based at our Manila office.
