Summary:
As a Custom Software Engineering Lead, a typical day involves overseeing the technical direction and architectural design of bespoke software solutions. This role requires guiding teams through the entire development lifecycle, from initial design concepts to final delivery. The position focuses on establishing development standards and ensuring that the software produced meets high benchmarks for quality, scalability, and performance. Collaboration with various stakeholders to align technical efforts with business goals is a key aspect, along with continuous monitoring and refinement of processes to drive successful project outcomes.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Expected to be an SME, collaborate and manage the team to perform.
- Responsible for team decisions.
- Engage with multiple teams and contribute on key decisions.
- Provide solutions to problems for their immediate team and across multiple teams.
- Lead the development and implementation of best practices to enhance software quality and efficiency.
- Mentor and support team members to foster professional growth and skill development.
- Coordinate cross-functional communication to ensure alignment and timely delivery of project milestones.
Administers and optimizes Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server environments. Performs performance tuning, designs disaster recovery strategies, and executes database migrations to Azure with minimal downtime. Deploys resources via IaC (Bicep/Terraform) integrated into CI/CD pipelines. Advises app teams on DB architecture, validates security compliance, and resolves escalated database incidents.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in PostgreSQL Administration, PL/I (Programming Language), Python (Programming Language)
Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server admin
PostgreSQL internals: WAL, MVCC, PgBouncer connection pooling
SQL & PL/pgSQL query optimization vacuuming, indexing, memory tuning
High availability, disaster recovery, replication & automated backups
Azure Migrate & Azure Database Migration Service
Infrastructure as Code: Bicep & Terraform
Azure networking: VNet integration, private endpoints, RBAC
pgAdmin, Azure Data Studio, Azure CLI
Good to have :
Scripting: PowerShell, Python, or Bash
Azure Monitor & Log Analytics
Experience in pharma/healthcare
Master's in CS/Database Systems
- Strong expertise in database performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and security management within PostgreSQL environments.
- Experience in designing and maintaining scalable database architectures to support complex software applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting to streamline database administration tasks.
- Knowledge of data replication, clustering, and high availability solutions in PostgreSQL.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in PostgreSQL Administration.
- This position is based at our Pune office.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
