Project Controls Manager
As a Project Controls Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring successful project delivery by providing leadership across all Project Controls disciplines. You will be responsible for project planning, scheduling, cost management, forecasting, progress measurement, reporting, and performance analysis, enabling informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will support complex capital projects from bid through execution while driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and delivery certainty.
Your Responsibilities
As a Project Controls Manager, you will:
- Lead and coordinate all Project Controls activities, including planning & scheduling, cost control, progress measurement, forecasting, reporting, and earned value management.
- Develop, maintain, and control integrated baseline schedules and project control systems throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly project performance reports, including schedule status, cost performance, forecasts, variance analysis, and key project risks.
- Partner with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Project Management teams to develop realistic execution strategies and project schedules during bid and delivery phases.
- Implement and maintain robust progress measurement and Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies to monitor project performance and support proactive decision-making.
- Analyse project performance, identify schedule and cost deviations, and develop mitigation and recovery plans.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements, contractual obligations, company standards, and established Project Controls processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by standardising tools, methodologies, reporting frameworks, and best practices across projects.
- Collaborate with regional and global Project Controls teams to share knowledge, lessons learned, and drive operational excellence.
- Lead and mentor Project Controls professionals on large and complex programmes where required.
- Support project governance, internal audits, and executive reporting activities.
- Perform additional responsibilities aligned with business and project needs.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Project Controls, Project Planning, or Project Management within EPC, infrastructure, energy, industrial, or capital project environments.
- Experience within Nuclear Decommissioning or another highly regulated industry is considered a strong advantage.
- Strong expertise in project scheduling, cost control, forecasting, risk management, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Proven experience supporting projects throughout the full project lifecycle—from tender and planning through execution and close-out.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate project reporting and provide strategic insights to senior stakeholders.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary Project Controls teams on complex projects.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills within international project environments.
- Proficiency with industry-standard Project Controls tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office. Experience with SAP and Power BI is an advantage.
- Fluent English is required. German language skills (minimum B2) are desirable and may be required depending on the project.
