Senior iOS Development Lead
Join Accenture Song, the world’s largest tech-powered creative group, and help shape the future of mobile experiences for one of New Zealand’s most loved brands. We’re looking for an experienced iOS Development Lead who is both a hands-on engineer and a people leader—someone who loves writing code, shaping architecture, and guiding a talented team to deliver world-class mobile experiences.
About the Role
As the iOS Development Lead, you will be the senior-most iOS engineer on the account, combining deep hands-on development with team leadership. You’ll write production-quality Swift and SwiftUI code daily, own core architectural decisions, and lead by example through technical excellence.
Alongside your individual contributor work, you’ll provide guidance, mentoring, and direction to a team of onshore and offshore iOS engineers—practically operating as the chapter lead for iOS on one of Accenture Song’s largest New Zealand clients. You will partner closely with design, product, and engineering leadership while staying deeply embedded in the codebase. This is an Auckland-based role working on-site with our client.
What You’ll Do
- Write high-quality, maintainable production code in Swift and SwiftUI as a core part of your day-to-day work.
- Lead and mentor a team of iOS developers across onshore and offshore locations, setting a high technical bar through hands-on contribution.
- Own and evolve architectural patterns, technical decisions, and best practices for the client’s iOS app.
- Contribute to the overall mobile strategy and roadmap, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Review code, guide refactoring, and support developers through technical challenges.
- Collaborate with design, product, and backend teams to deliver features end to-end.
- Champion engineering excellence across performance, reliability, testing, and accessibility.
- Help shape team processes, CI/CD improvements, and long-term technical strategy.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and capability growth across the iOS chapter.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the client on mobile innovation, technology choices, and delivery best practices.
What we’re looking for
- 7+ years of professional iOS development experience with deep expertise in Swift, SwiftUI, and the iOS SDK.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A strong individual contributor mindset—you love building software and want to stay hands-on with coding and architecture.
- Proven experience leading or mentoring other engineers, with the ability to develop capability across a team.
- Strong understanding of modern iOS architecture (MVVM, async/await, Combine, modularisation, etc.).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for iOS apps.
- Experience in modernising legacy applications, including refactoring, performance optimisation, and adopting modern development practices.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary, client-facing environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Curiosity, craftsmanship, and a passion for building exceptional mobile experiences.
- Knowledge of backend technologies and APIs (REST, BFF GraphQL) as they relate to mobile app development.
- Knowledge of Kotlin/Android is a nice-to-have but not required.
- Must be Auckland-based and able to work on-site with the client.
