BP SAP Tax Lead
Role Overview
The SAP Tax Lead is accountable for end-to-end tax solution design, governance, and delivery across SAP S/4HANA. This role leads tax-related process design, ensures regulatory compliance, and acts as the primary interface between Finance, Tax, and IT during transformation and post-go-live support.
Key Responsibilities
- Own global tax design across S/4HANA Finance (FI, SD, MM) including direct and indirect taxes
- Lead design and configuration of:
- VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax, Withholding Tax
- Tax reporting and statutory compliance
- Drive integration with external tax engines (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, custom solutions)
- Define tax governance, controls, and audit-ready processes
- Partner with business tax teams to translate regulatory requirements into SAP design
- Support data migration, cutover, and hypercare activities for tax
- Provide leadership to tax SMEs and offshore teams
Required Skills & Expertise
- SAP S/4HANA Tax Configuration (FI, SD, MM)
- Global indirect tax and withholding tax concepts
- Tax determination, condition techniques, and country-specific localization
- Integration with tax engines and reporting tools
- Strong understanding of statutory reporting and compliance
- Experience with SOX/internal controls related to tax
Experience Profile
- 10–15+ years in SAP Finance with deep tax focus
- 2+ end-to-end SAP implementations as Tax Lead or equivalent
- Experience in multi-country/global rollouts mandatory
- Prior experience in Oil & Gas preferred
