Job Title: AS400 Specialist / IBM iSeries Developer / Administrator | For Pooling

Job Summary: We are building a talent pool of skilled AS400 (IBM iSeries) professionals to support various projects related to application development, system administration, and support. Candidates will work on legacy and modernized IBM i environments, ensuring system performance, security, and business process automation. Applicants will be considered for multiple opportunities and may be reprofiled to other open positions that align with their skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. AS400 Application Development & Maintenance:

Develop, enhance, and maintain AS400 applications using RPG, RPGLE, CL, COBOL, and SQL.

Perform software debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

Migrate legacy applications to modern IBM i environments.
2. System Administration & Infrastructure Management:
-
Monitor and manage AS400/iSeries system performance, storage, and backup.
-
Perform system upgrades, patch management, and security configuration.
-
Ensure disaster recovery and high availability solutions are in place.
3. Database Management:
-
Administer DB2 for i (DB2/400), ensuring database integrity and performance tuning.

Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.

Implement data backup, restoration, and archival strategies.
4. Security & Compliance:
-
Enforce security policies, user access controls, and role-based authentication.

Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (SOX, PCI-DSS, GDPR, etc.).

Conduct audits and vulnerability assessments for IBM i environments.
5. Integration & API Development:
-
Develop APIs and web services to integrate AS400 applications with modern platforms.

Work with middleware solutions and APIs for cloud and third-party integrations.

Support EDI transactions and data exchange between systems.
6. Production Support & Troubleshooting:
-
Provide Level 2/3 support for AS400 applications and infrastructure issues.

Diagnose and resolve system, application, and performance-related incidents.

Work closely with business and IT teams to support critical operations.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
Experience: Minimum 3-10+ years of experience in AS400 application development, administration, or support.
Programming: Proficiency in RPG, RPGLE, CL, COBOL, and SQL.
Database: Strong knowledge of DB2 for i (DB2/400) and SQL query optimization.
System Administration: Hands-on experience in AS400 system operations, security, and backup.
Integration: Experience with API development, web services, and middleware.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication abilities.
Preferred Certifications:
IBM Certified System Administrator – IBM i.
IBM Certified Application Developer – RPG.
ITIL Certification for IT Service Management.
Security or compliance-related certifications (CISA, CISSP, etc.).
