Cloud Network Engineer to implement and validate network infrastructure components in a secure AWS Landing Zone environment, with some integration into on-premises networks. The role involves hands-on configuration, functional testing, documentation, and knowledge transfer (KT). The engineer will also interface with traditional network teams to support VLAN segmentation, routing alignment, and firewall integration during cloud build-out.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review network architecture inputs and identify implementation gaps or integration concerns
  • Implement and configure AWS cloud networking components, including:
    • VPCs, subnets, route tables, Internet/NAT gateways
    • VPC peering, Transit Gateway, VPC endpoints, PrivateLink
    • Security Groups, Network ACLs, Elastic IPs
    • Route 53 DNS configurations
  • Set up hybrid connectivity with on-premises environments via:
    • Site-to-Site VPN, Customer Gateways, and Transit Gateway attachments
    • Validate routing, name resolution, and connectivity across environments
  • Collaborate with on-prem infrastructure teams to:
    • Align IP address planning across cloud and on-prem
    • Coordinate VLAN/subnet segmentation and firewall rule updates for secure access
    • Support routing configurations (static/dynamic) as part of hybrid setup
    • Integrate with enterprise DNS, DHCP, and proxy servers where applicable
  • Perform network functional testing, including ICMP/ping, traceroute, NSLookup, telnet, and DNS checks
  • Implement monitoring and logging via VPC Flow Logs, CloudWatch, and AWS Network Manager
  • Create and maintain complete network implementation documentation, including IP plans, route tables, and connection diagrams
  • Conduct knowledge transfer (KT) sessions to educate client infrastructure and operations teams
  • 3–5 years of experience in cloud and traditional enterprise networking

  • Proficient with AWS networking services, including:
    • VPC, subnets, IGW/NAT, VPN, Transit Gateway, Route 53, Security Groups, VPC endpoints
  • Familiarity with non-cloud networking concepts, including:
    • VLANs, IP routing, firewall rule sets, ACLs, DHCP, DNS
    • Routing principles (static, BGP preferred) and basic WAN/LAN setup
  • Experience in hybrid/cloud integration environments (e.g., VPN or AWS Direct Connect setups)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across both AWS and on-premises layers
  • Experience writing technical documentation and conducting structured KT sessions

Required Qualifications

  • AWS Certification (e.g., Advanced Networking – Specialty or Solutions Architect – Associate)
  • Background working with IT Networking Infrastructure
  • Experience with firewall and proxy integration, or network segmentation for secure workloads
