Job Summary 

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be managing workloads for an e-commerce solution built over on-prem and cloud infrastructure with a focus on databases. You will be involved in maintaining and improving the client’s business platforms. You will be responsible for the site reliability and platform stability. You will be expected to respond to incidents, support on problems, execute changes and be part of a project to improve or reengineer the platform.  

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • To collaborate with specialist teams within the organization and third-party suppliers, to deliver outstanding results for our clients 
  • Actively participate in our shift-left strategy via tools, automation, process and self-service functions to empower the business and other IT teams 
  • Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of database infrastructure. 
  • Conduct the daily database monitoring and reporting 
  • Understanding on data security, backup and recovery. 
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and help implement optimizations 
  • Strong business communication skills with stakeholders  
  • Configure and optimize hybrid and cloud native systems 
  • Assist in creating and maintaining documentation for database configurations and procedures. 
  • Help with data migration, integration, and ensuring data quality 
  • Major incident management within our SLA scope 
  • Support in database patching, upgrades/migrations   
  • Coordinate on root cause analysis of P1/P2 incidents 
  • Develop automation scripts as needed to enhance operational efficiencies  
  • Document and track issues and reasonable steps taken within the ticket management system 
  • You must be willing to work on shifts. 

Professional and Technical Skills 

  • Strong knowledge on SQL databases on public clouds like AWS, Azure, GCP 
  • Knowledge on NoSQL databases like MongoDB/Couchbase  
  • Programming: Proficiency in languages like SQL and PL/SQL 
  • Good exposure in managing and maintaining public clouds like AWS, Azure or GCP. 
  • Hands on experience with Docker/Kubernetes will be an added advantage  
  • General awareness of the Linux operating system and perform basic operations  
  • Understanding on monitoring tools like Grafana 
  • Experience in any scripting language such as bash, python etc. will be an added advantage 
  • You will have strong written and verbal communications skills and a track record for providing high customer satisfaction.  
  • Prior experience in Jira/Confluence or any other service management tool  
  • Prior experience working in Agile environment will be an advantage.  
  • An understanding of ITIL practices would be ideal
