Accenture’s M&A and Private Equity Consulting practice partners with Private Equity (PE) firms and Corporate clients across the deal lifecycle — from diligence and deal execution to integration, separation, and transformation.
Our Japan-focused M&A team supports both Japanese corporations and global investors entering or expanding in Japan. With bilingual (Japanese and English) capabilities, the team enables seamless client engagement, cultural alignment, and delivery of high-value consulting engagements.
What You’ll Do – Key Responsibilities
Common for Both Levels
Core Responsibilities
- Lead or support consulting projects with a focus on business strategy, transformation, and sales acceleration for Japanese and global clients
- Drive client-facing interactions in both Japanese and English, ensuring effective communication and cultural alignment
- Contribute to opportunity origination, proposals, and orals — supporting global teams in winning work with Japanese clients
Additional Responsibilities
- Support M&A-related initiatives where relevant:
- Pre-Deal: Target/company research and evaluation, target screening, commercial due diligence, synergy assessment
- Deal Execution & Post-Deal: Support integration/separation planning, operating model alignment, and value capture initiatives
- Develop perspectives and thought leadership on Japan market trends and cross-border business opportunities
Role-Specific Expectations
Manager
- Lead client engagements in strategy, transformation, and sales enablement for Japanese/global clients
- Build and manage senior client relationships — function as the bridge between Japanese stakeholders and global leadership
- Contribute significantly to business development — driving proposals, pitching to clients, and identifying opportunities in the Japan market
- M&A exposure (due diligence, integration, synergy planning) is mandatory
- Mentor bilingual consultants and analysts, and support growth of the Japan-focused practice
Consultant
- Own workstreams in strategy and transformation programs, ensuring quality deliverables and timely execution
- Support business development activities, including research, proposal writing, and Japanese-language client materials
- Hands-on involvement in M&A-related work and strong consulting + client-facing skills are essential
- Collaborate with managers to deliver impactful outputs and maintain client satisfaction
Industry Focus (Preferred)
Experience with Japanese/global clients in:
Automotive, Consumer Goods & Retail, Life Sciences, Industrial Products, Financial Services, Technology
Must-Have Skills
- Fluency in Japanese and English (spoken and written). Preferable N1 or N2 level in JLPT
- Strong consulting background with proven client-facing delivery experience
- Business development and sales orientation — experience in proposals, pitches, and client relationship building
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with sensitivity to Japanese business culture
- M&A exposure and consulting expertise are the core requirements
