Summary:
As an Application Support Engineer, a typical day involves acting as a software detective by actively monitoring and investigating issues across various critical business systems. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying problems, analyzing system components, and delivering timely solutions to ensure smooth and uninterrupted business operations. The position demands continuous engagement with multiple system elements, requiring adaptability and a keen eye for detail to maintain system integrity and performance throughout the day.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide L2 and L3 support for DBT-based data transformation pipelines, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
- Investigate and resolve complex DBT model failures, data quality issues, and performance bottlenecks in production environments.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to review, optimize, and maintain DBT models, macros, and packages.
- Monitor pipeline health, batch completion trends, and proactively identify risks to operational stability.
- Manage and optimize incremental models, delta processing logic, and data vault integrations.
- Support platform migrations, schema changes, and DBT version upgrades with minimal disruption to production.
- Develop and maintain runbooks, technical documentation, and support SOPs for DBT workflows.
- Coordinate with L1 support teams for effective issue triage and escalation management.
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 support coverage for critical pipelines.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- 4–7 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years of hands-on DBT (Data Build Tool) experience.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks.
- Solid understanding of data modelling concepts — Data Vault, Kimball, or similar methodologies.
- Experience with production support, incident management, and SLA-driven delivery.
- Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, dbt Cloud, or similar.
- Proficiency in Python scripting for data pipeline troubleshooting and automation.
- Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines for DBT deployments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Exposure to data governance and metadata management tools.
- Knowledge of DBT packages, custom macros, and advanced Jinja templating.
- Experience in ITIL-based support frameworks.

- The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in Data Build Tool.
- This position is based at our BDC6F - SEZ office.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
