Summary
As a Data Engineer specializing in dbt (Data Build Tool) and Fivetran, you will design, develop, and maintain modern data transformation and integration solutions that enable efficient data processing, analytics, and enterprise reporting. The role requires strong expertise in building scalable data pipelines, implementing data transformation frameworks, and leveraging automated data ingestion tools to support enterprise data platforms.
The engineer will collaborate closely with data analysts, data architects, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality datasets aligned with business and reporting requirements. Continuous optimization of data workflows, performance tuning, data quality improvements, and adherence to data engineering best practices are key responsibilities of this role.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and collaborate with teams to ensure effective execution and delivery.
2. Own technical decisions related to data engineering solutions, pipeline architecture, and implementation approaches.
3. Collaborate with multiple teams and contribute to key decisions around data integration, transformation, and platform enhancements.
4. Provide solutions to complex data engineering challenges across immediate and cross-functional teams.
5. Design, develop, and maintain data transformation workflows using dbt.
6. Develop, configure, and manage data ingestion pipelines using Fivetran for automated data movement from multiple sources.
7. Implement best practices for data modeling, transformation logic, data testing, documentation, and deployment processes.
8. Lead initiatives to improve data pipeline performance, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
9. Mentor junior team members on dbt development, Fivetran integrations, and modern data engineering practices.
10. Coordinate with data architects, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives and deliverables.
Professional & Technical Skills:
1. Must-have skill: Strong proficiency in dbt (Data Build Tool).
2. Extensive experience with Fivetran for automated data ingestion and ELT pipeline development.
3. Hands-on experience with dbt models, transformations, tests, snapshots, macros, and deployment workflows.
4. Experience designing and implementing scalable data pipelines using modern cloud data platforms.
5. Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling techniques, and SQL optimization.
6. Experience with ELT architecture, data integration patterns, and analytics engineering practices.
7. Ability to troubleshoot data pipeline issues, optimize query performance, and ensure data quality.
8. Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, version control, and CI/CD practices.
9. Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar technologies is preferred.
Additional Information:
1. The candidate should have a minimum of 6 years of experience with dbt (Data Build Tool) and Fivetran.
2. This position is based at our Hyderabad office.
3. A minimum of 15 years of full-time education is required.
