Summary:
As an IT Database Engineer (m/f/d) within Global Data
Center Operations, you design, operate, and continuously
optimize enterprise grade database platforms across hybrid
and multi cloud environments. You ensure performance,
scalability, availability, and resilience of mission critical
workloads while contributing to global standards,
automation, and operational excellence. You support 24 7
operations in a globally distributed environment and act as
an escalation point for complex incidents.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and operate enterprise database
platforms including Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MS
SQL across on-premises and cloud environments.
Manage and optimize AWS RDS deployments including backup/restore, replication, monitoring, configuration, and performance tuning.
Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and resilience following global architectural standards.
Perform lifecycle management including patching, upgrades, performance tuning, security hardening, and capacity planning.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates using tools such as Terraform/CloudFormation to automate provisioning and configuration.
Use Ansible for configuration management, automated deployments, compliance enforcement, and repeatable operational workflows.
Use GitLab for CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated database deployment workflows.
Script operational tooling and automation in Python.
Support global initiatives such as data center modernization, cloud migration, platform consolidation, and legacy decommissioning.
Act as an escalation point for complex database incidents, execute root cause analysis, and drive long-term remediation.
Collaborate with global network, storage, cloud, security, and application teams to deliver end-to-end infrastructure services.
Maintain global documentation, operational standards, runbooks, and architecture references.
Participate in on-call and shift-based rotations as part of a 24 7 follow-the-sun operations model.
Professional & Technical Skills:
3+ years of experience in enterprise database engineering or large-scale production operations.
Strong expertise in Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MS SQL including performance tuning, replication, high availability, and troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience with AWS RDS (PostgreSQL/MySQL/Oracle/SQL Server) including automation and monitoring.
Solid understanding of high availability, failover, disaster recovery, and resilience design.
Experience with IaC technologies (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
Strong hands-on experience with Ansible for automated configuration management and deployment.
Proficiency with GitLab, including CI/CD workflows for database automation.
Strong scripting skills in Python for operational tooling, automation, and integration.
Familiarity with security, compliance, encryption, and backup standards for enterprise database platforms.
Ability to work effectively in globally distributed teams with strong communication skills.
Fluent English communication skills.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in AWS Relational Database Service.
- This position is based at our Chennai office.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
