Summary:
As a Microsoft Purview Architect, you will be responsible for defining, designing, and governing enterprise-wide data governance and compliance solutions using Microsoft Purview. You will lead the implementation of data discovery, classification, lineage, and access governance across the organization, ensuring alignment with regulatory, security, and business requirements. Your day-to-day activities include architecting Purview deployments, defining governance frameworks, guiding teams on best practices, and working closely with stakeholders to enable trusted, compliant, and well-governed data platforms. You will mentor team leads, drive standardization, and ensure consistent adoption of enterprise data governance strategies.
Roles & Responsibilities: -
Act as the Microsoft Purview Architecture Lead and SME across multiple projects and programs.
Analyze business, regulatory, and compliance requirements and translate them into enterprise data governance architectures.
Design and govern end-to-end Microsoft Purview architectures, including data catalog, classification, lineage, and policy management.
Define data discovery, metadata management, and glossary strategies across Azure and hybrid data sources.
Establish and enforce data classification, sensitivity labeling, and compliance policies aligned with organizational standards.
Design and implement role-based access control and data access governance using Purview and Azure integrations.
Define enterprise lineage and impact analysis frameworks to support data transparency and auditability.
Review Purview configurations, scans, and policies to ensure scalability, performance, and security.
Collaborate with data platform architects, security teams, compliance teams, and business stakeholders on governance decisions.
Drive adoption of data governance operating models and best practices across teams.
Mentor team leads and senior engineers conduct architecture and governance reviews.
Provide guidance during audits, compliance assessments, and governance-related production issues.
Professional & Technical Skills: - Must-Have Skills with Microsoft Purview as listed below
Strong hands-on and architectural experience with Microsoft Purview, including:
o Data catalog and metadata management
o Data scanning and classification
o Lineage and impact analysis
o Data access policies
Experience integrating Purview with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Power BI, and Azure SQL.
Knowledge of data security concepts including sensitivity labels, RBAC, and access governance.
Experience defining enterprise data governance standards and operating models.
Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements impacting data platforms.
Experience with Azure AD and security integrations for governance enforcement.
Ability to evaluate governance trade-offs across usability, compliance, and scalability.
Strong understanding of data governance, metadata, and compliance frameworks.
Additional Information: -
The candidate should have 9–12 years of experience in data governance, data architecture, or analytics platforms.
This position is based at our Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad office.
Minimum 15 years of full-time education (or equivalent).
Owns data governance architecture and standards across multiple teams.
Drives enterprise-wide adoption of data governance and compliance practices.
Accountable for secure, compliant, and well-governed data ecosystems.
