Summary: As an Application Support Engineer, you will act as software detectives, providing a dynamic service that identifies and solves issues within multiple components of critical business systems. Your typical day will involve collaborating with various teams to troubleshoot and resolve software-related challenges, ensuring that business operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will engage in problem-solving activities, analyze system performance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of software applications, all while maintaining a focus on delivering exceptional service to stakeholders. Position Overview The Release & Deployment Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing release, deployment, and environment management processes across the enterprise. This role ensures that application and infrastructure releases are delivered efficiently, reliably, and in alignment with ITIL/DevOps best practices. The SME serves as the technical and process authority for release governance, automation tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and cross-team coordination. Key Responsibilities Release Planning & Governance Define and maintain enterprise release and deployment policies, standards, and procedures. Develop release calendars, schedules, and communication plans. Conduct release readiness and go/no-go assessments with product, engineering, and operations teams. Oversee risk assessment, mitigation planning, and issue escalation for all releases. Deployment Execution & Coordination Lead end-to-end deployment planning and execution for major and minor releases. Coordinate deployment activities across development, QA, operations, security, and business stakeholders. Ensure deployments are executed in a controlled, consistent, and auditable manner. Drive post-release validation and release sign-off activities. CI/CD & Automation Act as the SME for CI/CD tools and processes (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Bamboo). Design and optimize automated build, test, and deployment pipelines. Integrate release and deployment automation into DevOps workflows. Champion shift-left strategies, automated testing, and continuous delivery practices. Environment & Configuration Management Oversee environment availability, configuration versioning, and infrastructure dependencies. Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure stable, consistent, and secure environments across Dev, QA, Staging, and Production. Troubleshoot environment issues that impact release timelines. Quality, Compliance & Audit Maintain release documentation, runbooks, and change records in ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy). Facilitate release retrospectives and drive continuous improvement. Stakeholder & Incident Management Serve as the primary point of contact for release-related incidents and failures. Provide expert guidance to project teams on release best practices. Communicate release status, risks, and issues to leadership and stakeholders. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience. 6–10+ years of experience in Release, Deployment, or Environment Management roles. Strong knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD tooling, version control, and automated deployment frameworks. Hands-on experience with tools such as o ITSM: ServiceNow o Source Control: Git, Bitbucket (Will be an added advantage) o Build/CI: Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Bamboo (Will be an added advantage) Strong understanding of ITIL Release & Deployment Management processes. Exceptional communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Preferred Qualifications ITIL Foundation or higher certification. DevOps, Scrum, or cloud certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP) will be an added advantage. Experience in large-scale enterprise environments with complex dependencies and distributed systems. Proven ability to lead major enterprise releases with minimal disruption. Soft Skills Strong ownership mindset and accountability. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Excellent documentation and communication abilities. Collaborative, detail-oriented, and process-driven. Additional Information: - The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in Configuration & Release Management. - This position is based at our Bengaluru office. - A 15 years full time education is required.
