Summary: IT Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the value of a product by managing and prioritizing the product backlog, acting as the liaison between stakeholders and the development team. Key duties include defining the product vision, writing user stories, coordinating sprints, and ensuring the product aligns with both customer needs and business goals. Responsibilities Product Vision and Strategy: Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring the product aligns with business objectives. Backlog Management: Create, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog based on business value and customer needs, ensuring it is transparent and understood by the team. User Stories and Requirements: Translate customer and stakeholder requirements into clear and actionable user stories and acceptance criteria for the development team. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, including customers, sales, and marketing, to gather feedback and ensure alignment. Development Team Collaboration: Serve as the voice of the customer, providing clarity to the development team, answering questions, and making real-time decisions during development cycles. Sprint Management: Coordinate and participate in agile ceremonies like sprint planning and accept or reject work based on defined criteria. Product Delivery: Schedule releases, manage the product lifecycle, and oversee final product reviews to ensure it meets quality and performance standards. Market Awareness: Stay up to date on industry trends, market demands, and competitor activities to inform product development. Qualifications and skills Bachelor's degree is typically required, with some preference for an MBA. A minimum of 5 years of experience is often required as an IT Product Owner. Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills are essential. Familiarity with agile methodologies, such as Scrum, is critical. The ability to act as a liaison between technical and business teams is a key requirement.
