**Role Title:** Cisco Viptela SD-WAN SME / SD-WAN Build Engineer -- ### **Role Overview** The Cisco Viptela SD-WAN SME and Engineer will be responsible for the **design, deployment, and stabilization** of SD-WAN services across global enterprise networks as part of large-scale transformation and transition programs. The roles involve close collaboration with network architecture, cloud, and security teams to deliver a robust, secure, and optimized WAN infrastructure. ### **Key Responsibilities** * Lead **High-Level Design (HLD)** and **Low-Level Design (LLD)** creation for Viptela SD-WAN solutions. * Define **migration and deployment strategies** for transitioning from legacy WAN to SD-WAN. * Configure and validate controllers (vManage, vBond, vSmart) and templates for large-scale rollout. * Oversee **integration with MPLS, Internet, and LTE** circuits ensuring redundancy and resiliency. * Collaborate with cloud and DC teams to implement **hybrid interconnect models** (Azure, GCP, AWS). * Conduct design reviews, optimize routing and QoS policies, and validate performance baselines. * Develop and maintain **SOPs, runbooks, and playbooks** for deployment and transition. * Mentor engineers and provide technical oversight during implementation and migration. #### **For SD-WAN Engineer** * Execute **build and configuration activities** for Viptela SD-WAN controllers and edge devices. * Perform **onboarding, site validation, and testing** based on approved LLD and build templates. * Support **cutover and migration** activities under SME guidance. * Perform **troubleshooting and root cause analysis** for SD-WAN connectivity and performance issues. * Maintain configuration baselines, documentation, and deployment checklists. * Ensure **adherence to SOPs, change management, and version control** standards. * Provide support for post-build validation and steady-state handover. -- ### **Required Technical Skills** * Hands-on expertise in **Cisco Viptela SD-WAN architecture and deployment** (vManage, vBond, vSmart, vEdge/cEdge). * Strong understanding of **routing protocols** (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and **overlay/underlay concepts**. * Experience with **SD-WAN policies**, traffic engineering, segmentation, and QoS. * Familiarity with **certificate management and control-plane security** within Viptela architecture. * Working knowledge of **cloud interconnects, IPsec tunnels, and transport redundancy models**. * Exposure to **automation tools** (Python, Ansible) and API-driven configuration preferred. * Experience in **enterprise-scale WAN migration and transformation projects**. ### **Professional Competencies** * Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for complex network environments. * Excellent communication and documentation abilities. * Ability to coordinate with multi-regional teams in a follow-the-sun operating model. * Strong customer focus and ownership for delivery excellence. ### **Certifications (Preferred)** * Cisco CCNP or **CCIE (Enterprise Infrastructure / Service Provider)**. * Cisco **SD-WAN Specialist Certification**. ### **Expected Deliverables** * HLD and LLD design documents. * Implementation build guides and configuration templates. * Migration and test plans. * SOPs, runbooks, and operational handover documentation. 15 Years of completed education
