Summary: As a Security Engineer, you will apply your expertise in Akamai security solutions to design, build, and protect enterprise systems, applications, data, assets, and people. You will provide services to safeguard information, infrastructures, applications, and business processes against cyber threats using Akamai’s advanced edge security capabilities. Your typical day will involve utilizing your deep knowledge of Akamai Web Application Firewall (WAF), Bot Management, and other Akamai edge products to secure critical applications and APIs. Roles & Responsibilities: - Expected to be an SME. - Design and manage Akamai CDN configurations including edge delivery, caching strategies, and origin optimization. - Implement, configure, and maintain Akamai Kona Site Defender or similar WAF solutions for robust application security. - Analyze application traffic patterns to optimize Akamai performance (e.g., using Property Manager, GTM, Edge Workers). - Collaborate with security teams to implement WAF rules, manage bot protection, rate limiting, and custom firewall policies. - Perform regular tuning and maintenance of CDN and WAF configurations to improve latency, availability, and security posture. - Work with DevOps and application teams to integrate Akamai solutions into CI/CD pipelines and application lifecycles. - Troubleshoot complex CDN and security issues related to Akamai configurations. - Provide mentorship and support to junior engineers and cross-functional teams. - Stay up to date with Akamai platform updates and industry best practices in web security and performance. - Deploy, configure, and optimize Akamai WAF for application and API protection. - Implement and fine-tune Akamai Bot Management policies to detect and mitigate malicious bot traffic while ensuring a seamless experience for legitimate users. - Configure and manage Akamai related modules for end-to-end DDoS protection. - Design and manage Akamai Edge Security configurations including Edge DNS, Site Shield, and API Security. - Monitor real-time security events via Akamai Security Center and take proactive steps to mitigate potential threats. - Perform root cause analysis for security incidents and implement long-term mitigation strategies. - Continuously analyze attack patterns and update security rules to improve detection and prevention capabilities. - Ensure Akamai security configurations comply with industry standards (OWASP, PCI DSS, GDPR) and organizational policies. Professional & Technical Skills: - Akamai certifications (e.g., Akamai Certified Professional). - Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP. - Exposure to security monitoring and SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog). - Experience working in high-traffic, mission-critical web environments (e.g., e-commerce, finance, media). - Knowledge of containerized environments (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker). - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
