Step into Tech - Higher Apprenticeship Programme
You don’t need to have studied computer science to get into tech. This 18-month software engineering apprenticeship programme is aimed at individuals without technical backgrounds who want to kick-start their career in technology. Apprentices who successfully complete this programme will earn a fully funded MSc Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist (Software Engineering) master’s degree from Newcastle University.
In addition to obtaining a nationally recognised master’s degree, you will also gain invaluable work experience at Accenture, the world’s leading management consulting and technology company. You’ll develop expertise across a range of capabilities including digital, web, data, cyber security, cloud computing, innovation, project management, application and infrastructure development.
You will help drive and deliver business transformation for our clients around the world through designing, building, testing and deploying strategic solutions for them. At the same time, you will develop industry-leading specialist skills and gain real in-depth knowledge across businesses and technologies.
What training will I receive?
As well your degree studies, you’ll receive training and mentoring from subject matter specialists across Accenture – people who continue to maximise technology to transform businesses. You’ll also get flexible study leave as you pursue your master’s degree, allowing you to manage your university obligations effectively.
Do I qualify?
To be eligible, you’ll need a first degree in any subject and will need to have achieved at least a 2:2. You’ll also need grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English. Equivalent international qualifications will also be accepted.
Most importantly, you’ll have a real curiosity about technology and a keen interest in building skills in this area. You’ll be a strong communicator with a logical mind-set, strong problem-solving abilities and able to work effectively in teams. Overall, we’re looking for a commitment and willingness to invest in your learning and development, devoting the time to training and study required.
Where will I be based?
You’ll be based in our Advanced Technology Centre in Newcastle. You’ll need to be prepared to travel as client projects could take you anywhere in the country (non-study days).
Why should I apply?
Alongside a competitive starting salary, you’ll receive regular performance reviews and a strong support network of mentors and buddies as we continuously invest in your future. During your 18-month fixed term contract, you’ll receive a range of benefits including a generous holiday allowance, work laptop, three days’ paid charity leave and subsidised gym membership. If you perform well and complete the apprenticeship, you may be offered a permanent position. Our final decision will be based on business demand.
