Digital Transformation Strategy Implementation Specialist
Digital Transformation Strategy Implementation Specialist
The Work
As a Manufacturing Strategy Specialist, you will work with clients to quickly assess their manufacturing and operational environments, identify improvement opportunities and develop practical recommendations and transformation roadmaps, and then stay with the work through to implementation. This role suits someone who is as comfortable on the plant floor as in the boardroom. You can hold your own in a strategy discussion with client executives, but a framework or a slide deck doesn’t satisfy you. You want to see the recommendation running on the line and delivering real results.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct rapid, hands-on assessments of manufacturing facilities and operational environments, spending time on the floor with operators, supervisors and engineers, to identify performance gaps, risks and improvement opportunities.
- Develop broad-based recommendations to improve manufacturing performance, operational efficiency, productivity, cost, quality and sustainability.
- Work with clients to understand their priorities and translate those priorities into actionable manufacturing and operations strategies.
- Develop transformation roadmaps, value cases, business cases and implementation plans aligned with client objectives.
- Stay engaged beyond the roadmap, working through implementation detail with client and delivery teams so that recommendations are realized in practice.
- Facilitate strategy discussions and working sessions with client executives, operational leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Analyze manufacturing processes, operating models, organizational capabilities and performance data to identify opportunities for meaningful improvement.
- Bring a current, informed view of emerging manufacturing technologies, such as AI, industrial IoT, automation, advanced analytics and digital twins, and help clients understand where they can create real value.
- Support the design and delivery of large-scale manufacturing and operations transformation programs.
- Apply Accenture’s methods, tools and assets to support assessments, strategy development and transformation delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across strategy, consulting, engineering, technology, operations and client account teams.
- Identify and help mitigate risks associated with transformation initiatives.
- Monitor project progress and support the timely delivery of key milestones and client outcomes.
- Communicate findings, recommendations, project status and business value to senior client stakeholders.
- Contribute to business development activities, including client proposals, solution development and transformation opportunities.
What Sets You Apart
- You have a genuine thirst for new technology. You follow developments in AI, IoT, automation and digital manufacturing because you find them fascinating, and you explore them on your own: tinkering and reading up on how things actually work.
- You’re a doer and a strategist. You can operate and discuss at a strategic level, but you’re energized by getting into the detail, whether that’s the data, the process or the practical challenges of making change stick.
- Some of your best days at work have been spent in steel-toed boots. If a client offers a plant tour, you’re first in line, and you’ll have a dozen questions for the operators by the end of it.
- You challenge the status quo. You bring a healthy dose of skepticism, whether to “the way it’s always been done” or to the latest technology hype. You ask the hard questions, test assumptions with data, and push clients to aim higher than incremental improvement.
Your Experience Counts
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, operations, strategy consulting or a similar role.
- Experience assessing manufacturing facilities or operational environments and developing broad-based, actionable recommendations.
- Manufacturing or operations industry experience, with an understanding of manufacturing processes, performance drivers and operational improvement opportunities.
- Experience facilitating client discussions and working with senior stakeholders to define priorities and transformation strategies.
- Experience developing transformation roadmaps, business cases or value cases for manufacturing or operational improvement programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly evaluate complex operational environments.
- Ability to convert assessment findings into practical recommendations and implementation plans.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting or delivering transformation, operational excellence, process improvement or performance improvement initiatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Valid passport and ability to travel within Canada, the US and internationally.
- English is required for this position as this role will be aligned to multi-national teams where English is the common language across our North America Market. Due to the significant high volume of interactions with these English-speaking multi-national teams, which is inherent to this position, it is not possible to reorganize the company's activities to avoid this requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working for a consulting firm or in an internal strategy, operational excellence or transformation role.
- Experience working across multiple manufacturing environments or industry sectors.
- Knowledge of manufacturing strategy, operational excellence, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, digital manufacturing or Industry 4.0 concepts.
- Experience developing executive-level presentations, assessment findings and strategic recommendations.
