SAP Technical Architect
We are seeking an experienced SAP Technical Architect to lead the technical design, strategy, and governance of SAP landscape for our customers. In this role, you will be responsible for the "How" of our SAP implementation, meaning defining the infrastructure, integration, security, and application lifecycle standards that ensure customers’ systems are scalable, secure, and high-performing.
Uniquely, this role requires minor knowledge of Enterprise Architecture (EA). You will act as the bridge between technical execution and high-level strategic planning, ensuring that our technical decisions align with the long-term IT roadmap defined by our Enterprise Architects.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Strategy & Solution Design
- Define the end-to-end technical architecture for S/4HANA (On-premise or Cloud), SAP BTP, and satellite systems.
- Design technical blueprints covering Sizing, High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and Security.
- Lead the transition to the "Clean Core" philosophy by utilizing SAP BTP for side-by-side extensibility or leveraging on-stack extensibility rather than modifying standard code.
Integration & Cloud Architecture
- Architect robust integration patterns using SAP Integration Suite (CPI), API Management, and Event Mesh.
- Manage the technical connectivity between SAP and non-SAP systems (3rd party SaaS, Legacy apps).
- Oversee hyperscaler infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) regarding SAP deployment standards.
Governance & Quality Assurance
- Establish and enforce technical standards for ABAP, UI5/Fiori, and Cloud Application Programming (CAP) models.
- Oversee the Transport Management strategy (CTS+, TMS, or CI/CD pipelines).
- Conduct technical feasibility studies and risk assessments for new business requirements.
Strategic Alignment
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to understand the 3 - 5 years IT Roadmap.
- Ensure that technical "quick wins" do not create long-term "technical debt" that contradicts the Enterprise Strategy.
- Translate high-level business capabilities (Business Architecture) into deployable technical components (Technical Architecture).
- Assist in Application Portfolio Management by identifying redundant technical components.
Required Technical Skills (The Core)
- Experience: 12+ years in SAP environments with at least 3 years as a Technical Architect or Lead.
- Platform Mastery: Deep understanding of SAP Basis, HANA platform, S/4HANA architecture, and SAP NetWeaver.
- SAP BTP: Hands-on experience with Business Technology Platform (services, connectivity, security).
- Integration: Knowledge of SAP Integration Suite, OData, SOAP, and REST APIs.
- Security: Understanding of SSO, SSL, IAM, and SAP GRC concepts.
Required Enterprise Architecture Knowledge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Familiarity with EA concepts (Business, Data, Application, and Technology layers).
- Ability to think beyond the "silo" of a single server; understanding how SAP fits into a multi-cloud hybrid landscape.
- Working knowledge of SAP Signavio for process modeling and SAP Cloud ALM for implementation and operations management.
- Ability to interpret Business Process Models (in Signavio) and translate them into underlying technical requirements (system flows, integration points, and data usage).
Desirable / Nice-to-Have
- Certification in SAP System Design or Migration.
- Certification in EA Frameworks (TOGAF or SAP Enterprise Architecture Framework).
- Experience with SAP Activate and "RISE with SAP" methodology.

- Translator: Ability to explain complex technical constraints to non-technical stakeholders and Enterprise Architects.
- Problem Solver: Analytical mindset to troubleshoot critical system bottlenecks.
- Leader: Ability to mentor technical consultants (Basis/ABAP/Integration teams).
- Intellectual Curiosity: Possesses a forward-thinking mindset, actively monitoring SAP roadmaps and release notes (e.g., SAP BTP, S/4HANA innovations) to anticipate changes and propose future-proof architecture.
