CyberCX - Strategic Accounts Director – Customer

Canberra | Hybrid

This role is with CyberCX, part of Accenture.

About the role:

CyberCX is looking for an experienced Strategic Accounts Director to join our Federal Government team in Canberra. This is a senior cyber security sales role. As an individual contributor, you will own and grow a portfolio of strategic Federal Government accounts, and lead the origination of new cyber security opportunities across agencies.

You’ll build trusted relationships with senior cyber security and technology leaders, understand the outcomes they’re accountable for, and bring together CyberCX’s cyber capabilities to help them strengthen their security posture, manage cyber risk and adopt new technologies, including AI, securely.

You’ll be responsible for developing and executing strategic account plans, originating and shaping cyber opportunities well ahead of formal procurement, and leading multi-agency campaigns that take a proven cyber solution or insight and scale it across government, rather than pursuing opportunities one agency at a time.

As part of Accenture, many of our largest opportunities are integrated, multi-tower deals. In these pursuits you’ll lead the cyber security component, working alongside Accenture colleagues who lead the technology, cloud, data and AI elements, so that clients see one joined-up team.

If you thrive on building long-term partnerships, creating demand rather than waiting for it, and collaborating across a large organisation to win complex deals, this could be the role for you.

What you’ll do:

Account leadership

  • Own and develop relationships across a portfolio of strategic Federal Government accounts, building trusted-advisor relationships with senior executives and key stakeholders.
  • Build and execute account plans focused on client outcomes and sustainable cyber growth, aligned to agency priorities, government policy direction and budget cycles.
  • Act as a key point of contact for strategic account matters and help resolve escalated client issues.
  • Own the client journey from initial solution proposition through transition to delivery.

Origination and multi-agency campaigns

  • Lead origination of new cyber security opportunities, shaping client thinking and building demand well before a formal approach to market.
  • Design and drive multi-agency campaigns across priority cyber themes, such as securing AI adoption, AI-enabled security operations, identity and zero trust, cloud security, cyber resilience and data security, turning proven solutions and client references into repeatable plays across government.
  • Develop points of view, executive briefings, workshops and events that position CyberCX as a trusted cyber security leader with senior government audiences.
  • Identify, qualify and progress new cyber business across both existing accounts and new agencies, building a healthy, well-qualified pipeline.

Integrated pursuits with CyberCX and Accenture

  • Bring together expertise from across CyberCX, including advisory, assurance, incident response, managed security and cloud security, to develop outcome-focused cyber solutions.
  • Partner with Accenture client account leads and capability teams (such as technology, cloud, data and AI) on integrated, multi-tower deals, leading the cyber security tower while those teams lead their own.
  • Identify where cyber relationships reveal broader client needs and connect the relevant Accenture teams, and bring cyber expertise into opportunities led by other parts of the business.
  • Lead and contribute to major proposals, RFPs, tenders and panel responses, including the cyber components of combined CyberCX and Accenture bids.
  • Collaborate across sales, technical and delivery teams to create a connected and seamless client experience.

Commercial discipline and leadership

  • Maintain accurate account, opportunity and pipeline information within CRM systems.
  • Contribute to sales reporting, forecasting and insight on account and campaign performance.
  • Support and mentor less experienced members of the sales team where required.

What success looks like

  • Growth in cyber sales and revenue across your account portfolio, including the cyber components of integrated CyberCX and Accenture deals.
  • A pipeline weighted towards originated, shaped opportunities rather than reactive tender responses.
  • Multi-agency campaigns that convert into wins across more than one agency.
  • Expanded senior relationships across your accounts and the broader Federal Government market.

About you:

You’re an accomplished cyber security sales professional who builds credibility with senior government stakeholders, creates opportunities rather than waiting for them, and works effectively across organisational boundaries to win and deliver complex deals.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • 8+ years’ experience in strategic account management, enterprise sales or solution sales, with significant experience selling cyber security or technology services into the Australian Federal Government.
  • A demonstrated understanding of cyber security, gained through technical experience, education or significant industry exposure, including an appreciation of the security risks and opportunities AI presents for government.
  • A track record of originating and closing large, complex cyber opportunities, and of developing and growing strategic accounts.
  • Experience designing or running campaigns or go-to-market plays across multiple clients or agencies.
  • Experience working within integrated or multi-tower pursuits, collaborating with partner teams across a large organisation or alliance to shape and win combined solutions.
  • Strong consultative selling skills and the ability to translate client challenges into relevant cyber solutions.
  • Familiarity with Commonwealth procurement, including panels, and the policy landscape shaping government cyber priorities.
  • Experience leading complex proposals, RFPs and tenders.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • A proactive, resilient and highly accountable approach to your work.
  • Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance (NV1 or higher preferred).

Why CyberCX?

CyberCX provides professional cyber security and cloud services across Australia and New Zealand, partnering with private and public sector organisations to help them manage cyber risk, respond to incidents and build resilience.

Our capabilities span consulting and advisory, governance, risk and compliance, incident response, penetration testing and assurance, network and infrastructure solutions, cloud security, identity and access management, managed security services and cyber security training.

As part of Accenture, our cyber expertise sits alongside Accenture’s global capabilities in strategy, technology, cloud, data and AI. This role gives you the opportunity to lead cyber for some of Australia’s most significant government clients, and to be part of integrated teams that bring the combined strength of both organisations to their biggest challenges.

Ready to make an impact?
If you’re passionate about government clients, cyber security and building partnerships that deliver meaningful outcomes, we’d love to hear from you.
