Strategy Planning Director
Accenture Song | Media | Sydney
The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Planning Director to lead and develop media planning as a distinct craft within our agency. You’ll play a central role in connecting strategy, planning and investment, ensuring strategic recommendations are translated into clear, ambitious and brilliantly executed media plans.
At Accenture Song, we believe in OES then P, maximising a client’s full suite of connections before investing in paid media. You’ll bring an ecosystem mindset, understanding the role and interconnection of every customer touchpoint and building plans that reflect that complexity with clarity.
Working in deep collaboration with strategy, you’ll help shape the agency’s planning capability, develop distinctive tools and workflows, build strong publisher relationships, attract exceptional talent and raise the profile of Accenture Song’s planning work across the industry.
This is an opportunity to help define what modern media planning should look like, combining the science of effectiveness and scenario planning with creativity, technology and AI.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven planning leadership, with a track record of delivering ambitious, award-recognised work to market.
- Deep expertise in marketing effectiveness theory, with the ability to advise clients on when to adhere to and when to deviate from it to maximise outcomes.
- Ecosystem thinking: a cohesive understanding of the role and interconnection of every client touchpoint, and the ability to build plans that reflect and optimise the whole.
- A command of the science of media planning, with the ability to build, run and quality-assure scenario planning with rigour and confidence.
- Strong publisher relationships built on genuine creative and strategic collaboration, with the ambition to develop deep relationships with strategic and creative teams across media companies.
- An industry voice: a clear point of view, a desire to be recognised for the work, and a commitment to attracting and nurturing the next generation of planning talent.
- The ability to identify and implement how planning integrates into Accenture Song’s tools and systems, creating bespoke capabilities and workflows that accelerate outputs and time to market.
- An active embrace of AI and cutting-edge media opportunities, using both to sharpen and accelerate the work.
Experience
- 8-10 years of media planning experience within a top-tier agency environment.
- At least 2-3 years operating at a senior planning manager or group head level.
- Demonstrated experience leading or building a planning function, not simply performing within one.
- A proven track record of award-recognised work across a range of clients and categories.
Why Here. Why Now.
The resources and reach of Accenture, with the energy and freedom of a practice still writing its own rules.
At Accenture Song, creativity meets intelligence, powered by technology and humanity in equal measure.
The work being done now will shape what this agency looks like for a long time, and we’re looking for leaders who want to change the industry for the better.
Before We Meet
Read the expectations above and come ready to talk about them.
