Job Description
The Network Engineer defines the needs and architecture of the company’s telecommunications networks and is responsible for the proper functioning and quality of the network, participates in its evolution and controls access to users.
The Responsibilities:
The Network Engineer is responsible for a company’s IT and telecommunications and manages the network setup.
Its mission is to install and secure the network. To be able to intervene, he must take into account and understand the needs of users in terms of network performance.
He optimizes and strengthens the Network by installing certain elements and integrates new applications to improve network performance.
He ensures that internal and external teams and interconnects across networks.
The Network Engineer has a great knowledge of computer tools and the administration of networks. For this, he/she sets up and establishes security standards to secure access.
Ensures installation of network administration equipment and software, monitors deployment and manages system performance. The network engineer monitors and maintains the networks to avoid any difficulties.
When problems occur, it provides solutions to keep the network in an operational state.
Produce and update documentation.
Develop and monitor test procedures.
Ensure the proper management of network access rights, for machines on the one hand, and for users on the other hand (creation and monitoring of user accounts), in compliance with company security rules.
Define all backups required to maintain the security of data flowing through the enterprise network.
Set up performance and network quality monitoring dashboards (outages, flows, resource availability, security, etc.).
Define backup plan in case of network failure.
Act as an expert to network administrators to help them in case of breakdown or difficulties (2nd or 3rd level support)
Technology Monitoring:
Ensure technological monitoring in order to anticipate the changes necessary for network optimization.
Provide network IT investments to ensure equipment security, reliability and performance.
Technical skills:
Good knowledge of enterprise IS Architecture and Functionality
Expertise in Network and System Administration (Routers, Firewall, etc.)
Knowledge of Network and Telecommunication protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet, LAN, WAN, etc.)
Proficiency in Infrastructure Software Management (operating systems, mail servers, databases, etc.)
Good knowledge of telecom and Internet technologies (DNS, SSH, FTP, DHCP, HTTP(S), NTP, SNMP, etc.)
Knowledge of databases (Oracle, SQLServer, etc.)
Very good knowledge of major operating systems (including Windows and Unix)
Knowledge of security standards and procedures and related tools and technologies: firewall, antivirus, authentication servers, URL filtering...
Knowledge of the market’s leading manufacturers and publishers
Knowledge of ISO (if company has certification) or ITIL standards.
Understanding of the company environment, and its business specificities
Proficiency in Technical English
Technologies: Fortinet, Checkpoint, Juniper, Huawei, BIGIP F5, Arista, Cisco, PaloAlto, etc.
Qualifications
