The Business Intelligence Engineer designs, delivers, and maintains scalable reporting and analytics solutions that enable data-informed decision-making across the organization. This role owns end-to-end analytics delivery, from understanding business needs and ensuring data integrity to building automated dashboards and advanced analytical outputs that surface insights, trends, and opportunities. The role leads a small analytics team and shapes the predictive-analytics roadmap for the function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of business intelligence solutions, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and timely availability of data products.

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business questions into analytical solutions, and iteratively refine dashboards and reports.

  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards and recurring reports that provide actionable insights and support operational and strategic decisions.

  • Execute ad hoc data analyses to support business inquiries, experiments, and special initiatives.

  • Monitor and manage data workflows to ensure seamless refresh cycles and proactively resolve data disruptions.

  • Implement and enforce data quality controls to ensure consistency, completeness, and trust in reporting outputs.

  • Transform reporting from descriptive and diagnostic views toward more proactive and predictive analytics where applicable.

  • Automate manual reporting processes, including the conversion of spreadsheet-based reporting into scalable dashboards built on modern data-stack tooling (e.g., dbt, Looker, cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake or Redshift).

  • Collaborate with data governance and adjacent data teams to align with best practices and maintain data integrity.

  • Contribute to project planning and execution by managing scope, risks, dependencies, and delivery milestones.

  • Provide guidance and support to team members by clarifying requirements, removing delivery roadblocks, and promoting effective collaboration across time zones.

  • Communicate project status, risks, and insights clearly to stakeholders, fostering strong and trusted working relationships.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science) or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4+ years of experience working in data-driven environments delivering analytics, reporting, or business intelligence solutions, with at least 1+ year in a team lead or formal people-management capacity.

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL for querying, transforming, and analyzing complex datasets.

  • Hands-on experience designing and delivering dashboards using data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, LookML, Data Studio).

  • Working knowledge of at least one cloud data warehouse (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift) is preferred.

  • Familiarity with Git-based workflows for analytics code (branching, pull requests, code review) is preferred.

  • Strong experience working with large datasets in Excel or Google Sheets, including automation and advanced analysis.

  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into analytical solutions and communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with data cleansing, validation, and transformation to produce high-quality analytical outputs.

  • Familiarity with ETL and automation concepts supporting analytics workflows.

  • Experience working within Agile delivery methodologies.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in data.

  • Clear and confident communication skills, tailored to diverse stakeholder audiences.

  • Proactive problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.

  • Collaborative approach and comfort working with multicultural, cross-functional teams.
