Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Solution Design
● Define creative solutions for business problems, holistically addressing functional and non-functional requirements.
● Define architectural roadmaps for systems and business services across capital project lifecycles.
● Define and document standards and guidelines to direct solution delivery teams.
● Ensure finished products conform to architectural principles, governance standards, and client requirements.
● Manage and implement assigned projects from inception through to completion (internal title: Project Management III).
● Rapidly implement fit-for-purpose processes (build-as-you-execute) and practical tools for planning and execution covering scope, cost, schedule, and risk management.
● Implement fit-for-purpose project management and reporting frameworks.
● Manage fabrication and machining jobs across a mix of Build-to-Print and Design-Build project models.
● Coordinate closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, and Production teams throughout delivery.
● Manage customer deliverables, schedules, and project milestones while matching internal capacity, resources, and budget (as-quoted cost).
● Develop new project or program plans and expectations in consultation with stakeholders, including clients, and delegate deliverables appropriately.
● Determine and manage human and material resources required to complete assigned projects successfully.
● Formulate resource allocation strategies and distribute work and budgets accordingly.
● Exercise authority in managing the work and controlling project delivery per project plans.
● Review and ensure adherence to overall scope, schedule, and budget.
● Identify risks and establish mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
● Monitor and report on performance against project requirements, milestones, budgets, quality measures, and KPIs; address issues with corrective actions.
● Evaluate project effectiveness by consulting with clients and key stakeholders.
● Establish and deliver progress reports, proposals, and presentations to project teams, client executives, and operations leadership.
● Lead scope change negotiations and oversee ongoing quality control.
● Define success criteria and communicate them to all involved parties throughout the project and program lifecycle.
Thought Leadership & Business Development
● Participate in business development activities, bids, and development of innovative offerings.
● Participate in thought leadership around Architecture and Digital Transformation for capital-intensive industries.
Basic Qualifications
● 10+ years of experience in Project Management or Solution Architecture within capital project environments.
● Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Architecture, Computer Science, or equivalent).
● Recognized Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
● Experience managing small and large-scale EPC projects ($1M–$100M+).
● Experience managing projects under a variety of contracting models, including lump sum, T&M, and cost-reimbursable.
● Experience in heavy industrial sectors is an asset:Oil & Gas,Utilities and Energy,Chemicals and Process Industries,Mining and Minerals,Large-scale Manufacturing
Preferred Skills & Technical Expertise
● Strong working knowledge of open source, open standards, and cloud technologies.
● Excellent working knowledge of design patterns and modelling notations
● Good knowledge of integration techniques, architecture patterns, and non-functional drivers.
● Strong experience leading development or engineering teams from a design and technical basis.
● Quality Assurance skills to assess the quality and completeness of deliverables.
● Knowledge and demonstrable experience of both traditional and agile delivery methods.
● Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and proficiency in Project Management software (e.g. MS Project, Primavera P6).
● Comfortable working onsite or on the fabrication floor.
