Across financial services, the ambition to go digital has rarely been matched by the infrastructure to support it. Only 10% of core banking workloads have migrated to the cloud1, meaning nine-tenths of the industry's most critical processing still runs on systems built long before the smartphone existed.
The cost of staying put compounds quietly: slower decisions, higher overhead, and an ever-widening gap between what customers expect and what legacy platforms can deliver.
CardX was born from a bold strategic choice. Rather than modernizing an existing credit card and unsecured lending business, the financial group carved it out as a fully independent subsidiary, partnering with Accenture to build the platform that legacy infrastructure had made impossible.
The goal: speed, product flexibility and an end-to-end digital customer experience—unconstrained by a legacy core. The result: the first cards and personal loan platform in Southeast Asia to run 100% on cloud-native infrastructure.
Built entirely on modern infrastructure from the start, CardX assembled a team with intention—drawing on people from both the parent organization who understood the business, alongside fintech talent with direct experience building and scaling digital-first products. More than 550 Accenture specialists across five countries helped deliver an integrated, AI-ready foundation.
For CardX's 2.5 million customers, this translates into faster, fully digital interactions. Credit card applications are auto-approved in over 40% of cases. Loan applications are initiated via digital self-service 85% of the time. Instalment conversions that once required a call to an agent, now take seconds via the app.
The mobile app ranks in the top five in Thailand — and CardX was among the first to launch dynamic CVV, a rotating security code visible only in the app, raising the bar on fraud prevention.
This platform has fundamentally changed how we operate. We can now design, launch and scale new products at a speed the old infrastructure simply didn't allow—with experiences designed around real customer needs, not system constraints.

The modular architecture Accenture put in place means more sophisticated AI can be integrated without foundational rework. Committed to its vision of “AI with Soul” CardX deploys intelligence that draws on deep customer data not just to respond, but to anticipate. Its Double Fraud Detection system flags abnormal card behavior in real-time for instant customer confirmation.
These are not retrofits, but exactly what this architecture was built to make possible from the start.
CardX won the Best Cloud-Based Technology Initiative award at The Asian Banker Thailand Excellence in Retail Finance and Financial Technology Awards 20252—recognition for a platform that didn’t exist five years ago.
When the foundations are right, speed stops being a constraint and starts being a competitive advantage.
