Group Chief Executive – Communications, Media, & Technology
John Walsh is group chief executive of Accenture’s Communications, Media & Technology operating group, which serves clients in the communications, media, high tech, aerospace and defense, software and platform industries. He is a member of Accenture's Global Management Committee.
Before assuming his current role in November 2019, John was senior managing director of Communications, Media & Technology’s operating unit in North America, with broad responsibility for its financial performance, client relationships, strategy and growth initiatives. He also served concurrently as office managing director for Accenture’s business in Northern California, overseeing office expansion, people development and innovation programs across the region.
From 2008 to 2013, John managed the company’s Communications, Media & Technology business on the U.S. West Coast, where he played a key role in building one of Accenture’s most dynamic practices. Specializing in the communications and high-tech industries, he led digital transformation programs for some of the company’s largest clients, helping to increase their operational efficiency and drive growth. He also has strong international experience, including helping telecommunications clients in South America scale and modernize their customer care systems, working with clients across Continental Europe to build shared services operating structures, and expanding Accenture’s client portfolio in Canada.
John serves on the boards of Vlocity, a privately held cloud and software company, and the Churchill Club, an independent thought leadership forum based in Silicon Valley.
John joined Accenture in 1986 and was named a partner in 1998. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Iowa State University.
