John Walsh is Chief Operating Officer for Accenture, responsible for leading the company’s business operations, executing its business strategy, protecting its infrastructure and ensuring operational excellence. He is also a member of the Executive and Global Management Committee, where he works closely with Chair and CEO Julie Sweet and other senior leaders to set the business strategy and drive the company’s total enterprise reinvention.
John has more than 30 years of experience providing strategic planning, operations management, IT and BPO services to many of the world’s leading companies. Prior to becoming Chief Operating Officer, John served as Global Sales Officer, where he led the creation of a world-class tech-, data- and AI-enabled global sales organization. He was previously Group Chief Executive of the Global Communications, Media & Technology (CMT) business for Accenture, where he established the vision and strategy for sales and revenue growth, as well as overall client relationship management across the high tech, media & entertainment, telecommunications and aerospace & defense industries. He also led CMT for North America, establishing one of the largest and most dynamic practices, and served for many years as the managing director for the Northern California office (San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento).
John currently serves on the board of IFS, an innovative cloud-based enterprise software provider. He has also served as a director on several other boards, including Vlocity, a Cloud Unicorn acquired by Salesforce for $1.3 billion in February 2020; Adchemy, acquired by Walmart.com in 2014; and the Churchill Club, one of Silicon Valley’s most prominent non-profit organizations.
John graduated from the Accenture executive management program at the International Institute for Management Development in Switzerland and completed his undergraduate studies at Iowa State University.
